Different Engagement Ring?

My boyfriend wants to get me an anniversary band as my engagement ring. So then once we're married, I would wear the wedding band with it. So it would basically be two bands. He want to pick it out himself too. It would be ideal for me since I work in a medical place. But I have not seen many people to do this. Would that be weird? I'm still questioning it.

Re: Different Engagement Ring?

  • I am also in the medical field ( Pharmacist ) and did not want to pick anything too big since I wear gloves a lot. We decided to get a 3 piece bridal set and I mostly use the two single bands when at work and then use 1 single band and the main ring when I am out and about...Hope this Helps....

  • No, it's not weird.  I know a few people who have done this.  If it's what you both want then go for it.  If you would prefer a classic engagement ring then speak up and let your BF know.  There are plenty of e-rings that cost the same, or even less, than an anniversary band.  Just remember that he may not get you exactly what you want because he is the one paying for it but at least he'll know what you want.

  • Not weird. Some people may think that you're already married, but no biggie.

if you decide not to go the band route, a bezel-set ring doesn't "stick out" like a solitair does, and almost cups the stone, so it doesn't have prongs or anything else to catch on gloves.

Personally, because I work in the medical/hospital area and travel a bit for work. We went with a nicer CZ and a normal setting. I'd be very sad if someone stole my ring from a TSA bin/hotel room, but we wouldn't be out a few thousand dollars or need to insure something worth several thousand dollars.
  • If that is what you like and want then no it isn't weird. If you are questioning it though you need to let him know. There are several E-ring options that don't have very high settings. However, if you like the bands, then go with that. It's not weird at all... it's what YOU and FI like.
