Atlantic Beach/Emerald Isle

Anyone have any suggestions on receptions for the Atlantic Beach or Emerald Isle area? My fiance and I just got engaged 7/19 and want a beach wedding for Sept 2011. We are looking at about 50 guests. I have an appt w/the Sheraton next wkend but want backup ideas. We are paying for the wedding and need a budget friendly reception.

If you are going with Emerald Isle, I would check into renting a beach house and having the reception there, with maybe the ceremony on the beach infront of the house?

I agree with Holly, if you are looking in that area, I would rent a beach house and have the ceremony and reception there.  Most of the hotels make you do everything through them.  If you do it at a beach house, you can go out and find the vendors that fit your budget.  It will be more work, but it could be worth it.  We are our wedding on a small budget as well.

If you don't mind going south a little, Surf City on Topsail Island is awesome.  I am getting married there on Sept. 19th.  They have a facility right on the beach.  You can fit about 100 people in there, but your party size is perfect.  We got the facility for $300 for the whole day!

I also recommend Courthouse Caffe for catering and Kathy Canby for cakes.  They are both out of Jacksonville which is not far from the area you are looking at.  Renee, the chef, has been fantastic. She worked really well with our budget and came up with amazing things.  Kathy is an amazing baker! She makes amaxing cakes for a very reasonable price.

There's a place near Emerald Isle (It's Atlantic Beach, Pine Knoll Shores, or EI) that does weddings.. it's right on the main road, one level and is a "club" ...i'll try to find out the name of it!

The Boardwalk on AB has a little place called Visions too.  It's smaller and newer.  I've seen a couple of their weddings out there but have never been to one.  Something else to look into!  They do beach ceremony, then have receptions on top of their building.

I second the beach house though.  Or, maybe you could do your ceremony on the beach and your reception back in Morehead, that would probably be less costly also!

Thanks ladies! I think I will consider a beach house as a last resort. I really didnt want to have to do all the work myself. I think that would stress me out even more. I am considering Wrightsville beach as well. I saw a place called The Oceanic that may be any option as well.

The only thing I would check into with Wrightsville is their permit fees.  I think another girl on here looked at having a ceremony there on the beach, but there were a bunch of permits needed.  I'm sure it would be different if it was at a hotel though.
