7165 Lounge

This place is the old NXNW spot on Germantown Ave. (Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia). I saw a flyer that they rent out the space. There isn't much info online about the space so I am going to contact them but before I do I was wondering if  anyone on here has taken a look at it for their wedding?

Re: 7165 Lounge

  • I was sad when North by Northwest closed.

I remember they used to rent their space out all the time. They also had lots of events -- brunches, salsa nights, disco nights, open mics, etc.

I was thinking about them for a wedding, but I didn't know they reopened! I kept checking the old website and it's down (another site bought it).

It has a nice feel to it. It's on the smaller side, though. So unless you're having something intimate, I don't know if it will work. And parking's not so great in that area, on Germantown Avenue.

Have you ever been there? I would just stop in one day and scope it out, if you are in the area.

My FI and I are looking for a space for about 150 guests sitting down with dancing, maybe I'll stop by this weekend they are having an October Gallery event. Here is their NEW website:

  • I tried emailing and calling them when I was looking for a venue, and got no response.  It made me sad, they're right in my neighborhood and I would have loved to check it out.

Well that sucks...I emailed them too. But I'm going there this weekend so hopefully I make some progress, I just found a second website, it states that they can seat up to 225 people/Reception for up to 325 people and this one has pictures...

  • Awesome! Thanks for the links! Perhaps, they allow both the upstairs and downstairs to be used and change up the seating because I remember that it was kind of a small restaurant.

I say go there and check it out...maybe plan on lunch or dinner there one day to check out the food/atmosphere. I know a lot of vendors are bad about email/phone contact, so you might have to be a bit more proactive on it.

If you are set on that area, there are a few more places on Germantown Avenue, including the Gathering Place, the Brossman Center, and Venetian Social Club. I also heard Temptations moved up there in the Mount Airy neighborhood from its previous spot at Wayne and Chelten.
  • I didn't know they had an upstairs...wow. I'm really looking forward to checking them out now...
Thanks for the other suggestions...I actually saw the new restaurant (Temptations) one day,  I think it's called the Black Pearl but then I read somewhere that L&I shut them down recently....crazy
We really don't have a particular area we just HAVE to have our wedding/reception, my FI and I have even looked at spots in NJ, we just haven't found THE one yet...I'm hoping 7165 Lounge has alot of pros. So far at the top of our list is P and P caterers but I still want to look some more...we are also planning to check out Lazaretto ballroom in Essington, pa
I can't wait until we FINALLY find a place! LOL

  • WOW! L&I, though! That's serious!

Upstairs was the main restaurant part. I remember there being a downstairs (I think), but I haven't been there in years.

I feel you. I have been looking for a venue for well over a year at this point.

Okay, the guy actually emailed me back a few minutes ago. The number he provided is different from the one on the website, so if you want it, PM me. I don't want to post it here in case it's his cell number or something.
  • He responded to me too...via email with a phone number to call him back!

  • Did you get to take a look at 7165 Lounge? We did and discussed a quote with the owner, Mercer. He was cool and laid back. They didnt have any paperwork or anything for us to take home and look at. We're going to go back soon and gather our thoughts on the place. See what we can make of it. Also I found that Regal Ballroom had nice packages, check them out as well.
