Flowers Done, Dress Almost Done.. Now Honeymoon! What did you use to book?

My fiance and I are looking for the Carribean being itis within 6 hours and you don't lose a whole day in a plane for Hawaii. We are looking for all inclusive so we don't have to worry about money.

I am think we need travel agent. Looking at books makes me confused. (It all looks the same to me), the internet makes me scatterbrained , and I think a person laying it out makes more sense.

Who did you use? Did he or she charge an arm or leg? If you didn't choose a agent, why? Can't agents update your plan to get better prices along the way? Who did the Carribean and any recs? WHo who who is IRENE from Travel Dreams?? I keep seeing her name!

Yawn..I just want St. Lucia and a mojito!!

I used Mindy from My Vacation Lady.  Her website is Myvacationlady.com.  She was wonderful.  There is another post about this a little down and I did a review of my travel agent which I believe is now on the 2nd page.

Every travel agent we booked with quoted us higher prices than expedia for the resort we wanted to go to - so we ended up booking it ourselves through expedia. Just do your homework - read reviews on tripadvisor and speak to travel agents to see what they suggest, then compare their prices and suggestions to expedia and other travel sites. To be honest, doing my homework ahead of time was good because some travel agents were trying to tell me how great some places were....when the reviews were terrible! When I tried calling them out on it they told me they never heard of those types of complaints before....even though there were NUMEROUS of them. I understand one person might just have bad luck, but when multiple people complain of the same thing...then that means it's a problem.

I booked through Liberty Travel- (a cruise) the same price I found on all of the websites was the exact price at the travel agency.

Also when going through Liberty Travel they were able to find me a better room on one of the top decks for a LOWER price (which was unreal) I guess they were just trying to fill up rooms? Also our lady got us a free bottle of wine for our room on our first night since we will be newlyweds.

I think if you go through a travel agent things get laid out for you easier plus they get right on the phone with the airline/cruise/hotel while you are sitting there so all of your questions get answered.

If you use orbitz you don't get to choose the better rooms, or the personal service.  When my prices went down Mindy emailed me with the price reduction.  Once you book on orbitz, you don't get any price reductions.  We had our entire honeymoon put together as a package which was much easier for us rather than looking for car rentals/hotels/excursions etc.  Most of the time if we compared a price from orbitz to waht Mindy was giving us, you could see in the fine print of orbitz it wasn't a great room. Plus we were able to get upgraded for free due to the connections she had at some of the hotels.  Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

We booked through Expedia, with a promo code and saved a ton of money. In the past, we've always used Expedia or Orbitz.
My aunt and uncle are actually going to the same place, the same week as us, on the same flight, just staying at a different hotel, and they booked through her regular travel agent. When she heard what hotel we were staying at and how much we paid, she couldn't believe the price.

I used a travel agent recomended by my photographer and I am very happy with the service.  Normally I book my trips online, but since honeymoon to me is a big deal I decided to go for a travel agent this time.  It's been wonderful to have a personilized service and her prices are good.
You could always contact her, say what you want and see what she comes up with... Then you could also check other travel agents or online by yourself and sse what is better for you.

We used Dina Silvestri and couldn't be happier with as she got us great prices, was incredibly patient with us, and gave us a lot of good advice.  You can email her at dinasilvestritravel@gmail.com and I believe she works out of Travel Plaza in Manchester, NJ (super far from us so we did everything via phone, email, and fax).

We're going to book right through the hotel and airlines themselves.

We've always booked through Expedia, as well.  My fiance is obsessed with doing research to find the best possible deals/rates/he plans the itineries, etc so it has worked out wonderfully, in the past.  So, I am in agreeance.

This time we have to use an agent tho...money down tubes but it has to be done : \
