The Ritz-Carlton or The Chase Park Plaza

Hello! This is my first post (just engaged on New Year's Eve!!) and I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with either the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton or the Chase Park Plaza Hotel. We are looking to have our ceremony and reception at a hotel and it's hard for me to scout them out since I'm planning a St. Louis wedding from Columbus, OH!  Any info appreciated!!!

I would say the Chase.  I've been to charity benefits at the Ritz and, IMO, the decor looks quite dated and the food was average.  I've been to several similar functions at the Chase and the food has always been great.  My friend had her reception at the Chase last year and everyone said it was one of the nicest weddings they've ever been to, if not the nicest.  Have you considered the Four Seasons?  It's in the same league as the Ritz and the Chase.  I've been to two private parties there, and the food is AMAZING.  If it were me, I would say Four Seasons, then the Chase, then the Ritz.

I've never been to the Ritz but the Chase is amazing! The CWE is a great area too so out of towners will have lots to do without having to go too far away. My mom and stepdad got married there last year and I know they had a great experience getting everything set up and the food was great.

We looked at the Chase and it has really wonderful rooms. Depending on the size of your wedding, they have different areas upstairs and downstairs. It also has a great view of downtown. We ended up going with the Four Seasons, which has gorgeous facilities.

Also downtown that might be worth checking out is the Millenium Hotel...they have updated decor and fabulous food.  They are equipped to do ceremony and reception.

Thank you for the advice! I think I'm going to be in town for the bridal show on the 23rd at the Four Seasons so hopefully I can make appointments with all of these hotels that weekend. Happy planning!

I'd also suggest the Chase, because it has more character.  The Ritz is really nice, but it is kind of like every other Ritz in the country, so unless you had a special memory related to the place I'd go Chase.  Plus, the Central West End has a million fun picture locations and is close to Forest Park too.

    Hey Amanda -
I'm a St. Louis bride planning from Cleveland :).

You may also want to check out the Hilton at the Ballpark.  That is where our reception is, and the view is fan-freakin-tastic!

I would check out the Hilton.  You can get married on the rooftop at sunset w/the arch in the background.  Photo's I've seen are amazing.  Heard the Four Seasons is fantastic.  Not sure when you are getting married.  Four Seasons only has two Saturday's left for all of 2011.

Four Seasons is certainly wow.  The views are innnncredible.  And photos there are also stellar. Plus, it's connected to a casino, which is fun for guests. That said, I LOVE the Chase. You CANNOT go wrong there.  It has 2 fantastic restaurants, a great movie theatre and the Starlight ballroom at the top is hard to beat.  And as mentioned already, it's in the heart of the Central West End, which is trendy little area FULL of some of the best restaurants around, cute shops and cupcakeries!  I prefer the Chase, but that's just me:)  I did a couple of sorority events there too, and had a good experience:)

I would say the Chase too, but you might also want to look at the Hyatt Regency at the Arch.  I just had my reception there and the food was fantastic, the staff was incredible and the service was outstanding.  If you call, ask for Amy McIntosh in the Catering Office.  Good Luck with all your planning.
