Military Brides

Grrrr. Sometimes the military just makes me angry...

It's official, FI just found out at formation this morning that he deploys to catch up with his platoon that deployed last month and they are unsure what his return date is as of yet. Anywhere from 6 months to a year. Sometimes I just hate that I have to share him. We already booked our ceremony/reception venue, our photographer, our DJ, our cake baker... Grrrr.

Please edit your post immediately and remove that date.  And I would definitely recommend reading up on OPSEC and PERSEC too.

With that being said, I'm sorry that this is happening.  It definitely adds stress and is a PITA for the wedding planning part, not to mention the stress of the deployment itself.  Hopefully your vendors will be good about working with you and changing dates.

Ditto Beach. You need to familiarize yourself with OPSEC and PERSEC. I can understand the frustration as well. We had to change our wedding date due to deployment schedule being shuffled around. Do you have military clauses in your vendor contract? Hopefully everything works out well for you.

I'm sorry this is happening, but wouldn't you feel even worse if something happened to your FI platoon because alot of other Wives, FI, and GF's posted dates on their FB or other places online?

I would take the stess of planning and replanning, over the guilt of wondering if it was my post that gave them away, anyday..

It's not likely that a terrorist is lurking on TK, but you never know...

Thank you for pointing it out. I'm familiar with both OPSEC and PERSEC, this certainly isn't my first rodeo. But, thank you for the caution. I appreciate it. It was an honest case of ranting and I had a moment of word vomit.

Also, I totally see your frustration, but I have trouble empathizing with it. His platoon is already over there? Is he not losing his mind to get over there with them?

Also, this is not the military's fault. It hurts my heart to read "I hate the military".

We had to push our wedding date back not once, not twice, but three times due to deployments. It's just the nature of the beast. By the third time, I just had to laugh it off. I'm sure my vendors grew to hate checking their email for fear of seeing another "Wedding Date Change" message from me.

We went through three officiants and four photographers during our planning process. So yeah, it's definitely in your best interest to make sure you have a military clause in all of your vendor contracts.

and the other lady, her facebook has their last names and wedding date on it too I'm sure. No where does it say his deploy date she's fine, I think she removed his date as I can't see it. I'm in the Air Force and I know OPSEC like the back of my hand as it's my job...</div><div>Jensen, be glad it wasn't a 72 hour notice. If it was I'm sorry! Understand that by marrying him, you marry the military. If it makes you feel better at least you aren't Mil to Mil! FI and I are and work opposite 12 hour shifts! It'll happen a lot depending on the job.

It gets easier. I suggest finding a support group that the military offers. They're awesome.

The first & last name thing is for internet security. This would have been an issue even with non-military knotties. Quit bragging and wisen up.
