Seating Chart....oh my!

This whole seating chart business is making me crazy! But I think I figured it all out!

We haven't sent the invites yet (see my earlier post-they're going out tomorrow) but I wanted to figure out how it would all come together if everyone rsvps yes. I "think" I have figured out a good way so that the VIPs (moms, dads, grandparents etc.) are closest to us, and that they know the people at the next table over.

For example: My FI's Dad will sit with his family members (dad, brothers, sisters etc) and the next table over will be his nieces & nephews (FI's cousins) Same with my Mom's side of the family and my Dad's side...and also FMIL's family. FMIL and FFIL are not married anymore and FMIL is remarried so they will be at different tables.

I am nervous about showing FI how I've placed people because I know hes going to pick out someone who needs to be moved and I'm afraid I won't know where to move them! lol

    I did my seating chart the same way with famly next to family. I have a some empty spaces and its hard to figure out how to consolidate the tables without putting people that don't know eachother together.

    i did a draft... but dont drive yourself crazy. they say wait until 2 or 3 weeks before the wedding to do the seating chart, and its good advice!

    AND- i said this yesterday- but its worth repeating- use TK's seat chart thingy. Its incredibly easy.

    I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that hates the seating chart part of planning.  This has been my biggest challenge, nail biter!  I HATE telling people where to sit, but we have to for our venue.  This was almost a deal breaker for me.  I've heard the Knot's seating chart planner helps alot.  I plan on working on it over a glass of wine!

    I did a “draft” one on the knot, just to see how it worked.  I LOVED IT! It was so easy!  And I like the wine idea.

    I actually found myself getting a bit frustrated with TK seating chart...it just seemed to be more time consuming than creating my own in a word doc (gasp), printing the layout and writing in guests by hand.  :)
