Cab companies and weddings

At a couple of weddings I've seen people put up signs saying "please be safe. If you don't have a designated driver, call Suchandsuch Taxi at 206-NNN-NNNN". Anyone else done/is doing this? Do you have to call the cab company ahead of time and say "we may need a number of cars from this location at any point between 8pm and 11pm"?

Interesting. My guess is that was just so people would be more inclined to call a cab vs. try to drive after drinking. If a person has a cab # readily available, they'll be more likely to call it.

I would suggest don't call the cab company before - honestly, they won't care. We have to call for work all of the time as they don't really frequent our area unless called. If we try to schedule a time - they never show up on time and are all angry if they arrive early and the guest isn't ready. Several times I have called asking for a cab at a specific time - they showed up 5 minutes early and started the meter so by the time the guests got in the cab it was already $5 before they even went anywhere. I say just provide the information to your guests and let them do the calling. However, if you're in Seattle, I prefer Yellow over Orange as their dispatchers are usually nicer.
