Ideas for Centerpieces

I'm looking for some ideas on DIY centerpieces. I dont want to spend the money on flowers. Any ideas?

Re: Ideas for Centerpieces

  • There are a crap ton of things you can do.  What's your budget?  What's your style?  Keep in mind that some DIY projects end up costing more than flowers.  $10 here, $10 there doesn't seem like much until when your done and add it all up.

Last wedding I went to had long tables with a burlap runner, and tons of mason jars in different sizes with candles in them.  Simple but pretty.

At mine I used large lanterns and smaller vases with flowers.  So I still had flowers for color but they weren't huge expensive pieces.
  • Candles, birdcages, lanterns, fruit.......it depends on the look you're going for. Do a Google image search for non-floral summer wedding centerpieces (I say summer b/c your bio says your wedding is in June) and see if anything strikes your fancy. As Cortney said, though, with some things you have to be careful b/c the cost of putting together certain looks could get as expensive as flowers.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • My sister bought lanterns from Pier 1 and put pilar candles in them, then sprinkled petals around the table.

I had low round bowls with 2-3 stems of tulips wrapped around the inside, then filled with water and topped with a few small floating candles, with a few tea lights on the table around the outside.

I went to a wedding this weekend that had cylinder vases with some kind of white and purple flower (just one stem) inside, clear marbles on the bottom, and a single white floating candle on top.

  • This may seem crazy but all of the christmas decorations are going to be on sale at the end of the month, and so many of them come in different colors and styles that can easily be made into center pieces.  Feathers, beads, birdcages so many options if you think outside the box and no one would realize! Some may need a coat of paint but you can't beat the after christmas decoration sales!
  • I like Nikki's idea - bowls filled with different sized ornaments (hide the hook parts) or maybe empty wine bottles with strands of xmas lights inside?
