Wedding planner just for day of?

I'm doing all my planning myself, partly because I want to and also because I can't afford a planner, but I'd really like someone to be "in charge" on the day of besides myself and FI.  Do they do this?  I guess this is called coordinating?  How much would it cost?

Maybe I could find a friend or acquaintance who needs money to do it as well, but I have no one in mind, and of course I really don't want a guest to do that. I want my guests to just enjoy themselves.

I'm just scared of being the one in charge and having to worry about details when I should be relaxing and enjoying myself.

I had one and it was the best thing I could have done. She really helped a lot. They are called "day of coordinators". I found her on craigslist. She was just starting out so she did if for free. I would highly recommend getting one.

Adrian, hi!  I PM'd you.  So sorry, it took me so long to get back to you.

I am using Tiffany Clowers as my DOC.  You can reach her at tiffanyrclowers@gmail.com.  Tell her Capri sent you.  Ask about her rates.

Thank you both!  I'll look into it.  I hate to pay for it since my budget is tiny, but I may do. I could see that being worth it.

I am using Amy DiLoretti of A Flawless Event.  Out of the four that I contacted, her rates were the most reasonable, and she seems to be VERY organized and on top of things.  We are only using her for the day-of coordination.  :)  Good Luck!

    Here's an idea--

My mom and her friends have this thing called "the wedding bi$ch" -- usually its an older lady who has experience with weddings... instead of being a guest, that day she takes a turn under the title listed above as a day of planner.

In my case my "wedding bi$ch" is a very close family friend named Sam... very gay, very funny, and very organized. I think we are going to give him a nice pair of sunglasses or something for doing it.

I also am working with a teeny tiny budget, so a day of coordinator was out of the question.
I asked my brother's new wife (the just got married 01/01/10) to do it for me, and she is very excited about it!
I think you could definitely ask a friend to do this for you, or as a PP said you could look on craigslist.
Also, if we end up doing the co-op thing, one of the girls on the board could do it for you!
