NWR-Contact lenses

so....I made the jump to contacts.  I decided I didn't want to wear glasses with my dress (or anymore at all really) and I wanted to not fall on my face without them, so....I got contacts.I've had them in for three hours and they are still blurry.  I can see, but letters are a little blurry, nothing is super sharp.  Anyone know how long this lasts?  My opt said a couple hours to a couple of weeks (weeks!!!) I'm looking for a nice timeline, I'm in school and don't really wanna deal with the fuzzyness.

Thanks ladies!

Re: NWR-Contact lenses

  • Are you sure they are in the right way? I mean that in a non-rude, totally honest way. Even now that I've worn contacts for 15 years, if I put them in wrong side up, my eyes feel exactly as you have described until I take them out and put them in the right way.

When I started wearing contacts, my opt. suggested only wearing them a couple hours each day and slowly building up, as they did make my eyes really tired at first unti I got used to them. It took at least a few months for me to be able to wear them all day long. Now I wear them from 5:45 AM until 11 PM most days and they are fine.

If none of the above helps or is true, I would maybe call your eye doc again?

  • I am a newbie to contact lenses too. First time, it felt like some alien invaded my eye then subsided to the modest grain of sand after a very long hour. It may be that you have inserted the contact lens the wrong side in or just simply you may have some dirt on the lens. Very easy to pick up. Smears, fluff from clothes etc. remove it and wash your contact lens.
  • You need to go back to your eye doc, or perhaps find another.  Blurry vision is not a normal result of wearing contact lenses.  While it does take some getting used to to put them in, once they are in your vision should be clear.  I've worn contacts for over 16 years, and if a doc told me it could take weeks before I'd be free from blurry vision, I'd run in the other direction.
  • sorry for the late response ladies!
yes they are a trial pair, they are still blurry and I just called the opto to make a follow up appointment.  They are relatively clear, but things like computer screens and anything I have to read, it's blurry.  I've taken them out, cleaned them, made sure they were in the right eyes, all that stuff, still feels weird to me.  Hopefully he can fix them.  I don't have eye insurance and I'd hate to switch eye docs and have to pay for an appointment all over again.  I did get some rewetting drops and cleaner for sensitive eyes, and that helps, but I can only wear them max 3 hours and I want to scratch my eyes out.
