Cuban Honeymoon

Hey ladies!
FI and I went to Varadero last March with my family and we LOVED it so much that we have decided to go back!  We're looking to go back for our honeymoon (which is pushed to November due to hurricane season in Sept).  We stayed at the Paradisus Varadero and LOVED it but we'd like to try somewhere else.    Anyone been? Any recommendations?

Edit: I was going to post this on the honeymoon board butttt I believe most of the ladies over there are American and American's can't get in to Cuba so I figured posting here would make more sense

I've been to Veradero a few years ago. Also really loved it.
We stayed at the Iberostar that's there. I can't remember the full name.
Lovely place. Big pool, Massive beach, great entertainment. It was a smaller hotel (my style).
We went in December over christmas.

We stayed at the Superclubs Breezes Jibacoa which is not in Varadero but west, about halfway between Varadero and Havana. What I loved about it was that it only about an hour and half from Havana so it was easy for us to get there for a day tour. It's also more secluded than the Varadero resorts I think, though the beaches not quite as beautiful.

I think *some* Americans can get in now (I believe Obama made it legal for Cuban-Americans to travel back for family...maybe...?) but for the most part it's an American free zone.

Depending on your style of vacation, this was awesome. I have nothing against Americans, I have lots of friends from there but the atmosphere was so different from Mexico. Much more laid back, not as loud and more friendly.

They can only go once a year IF they have family that lives there.  They either travel from Canada or Mexico.

I've been to Varadero twice, not in hotels though but I think the Melia Las Americas is gorgeous.  I've been on the grounds and it's beautiful.  It's a little pricey and I'm not sure about the reviews though.

    I LOVE Varadero.
A big group of friends and I stayed at Hotel Internacional a few years ago when we were young and didn't have much money. It was cheap and fun, very good for a budget... but if you have more money to spend there are probably much nicer places than that hotel.

I love Cuba. FI and I were there in March of last year and we were at the Blau Varadero. It was very nice... beach is gorgeous.. not a lot of night life so if you are in to that this is not the place for you but very relaxing and the staff are AMAZING. We met couples who had been here 6 or 7 times!!

    Good luck!
