color iffyness.

Hey all! Happy Hump day! As I have been making checks with the wedding planning (i.e finding the ceremony/reception site, setting the date.) I have started wondering if my wedding color choices are appropriate. The wedding will be October 8th, 2011. The colors I currently have picked out are a light aqua color and yellow, with white of course. But is that really  a good choice for a "fall" wedding? What are some of you other october ladies color choices? I tend to go for lighter colors and don't lean as much towards the "typical" fall colors-browns, deep reds, etc. Anyways, thanks all!

I think that it's not really the colors that matter, it's how you do it.  And honestly, the season shouldn't really dictate your colors, if you don't want it to. If you want those colors, go for it!

However, that said, if you want to make it a little more fall-ish, what about using chocolate brown as a neutral with those colors or adding in some orange?  Here are some ideas/inspirations:
I really like the idea of aqua and chocolate brown with light yellows, creams, and whites, especially in the flowers and little details.

I think that any colors can be used any time of the year.  It's good to keep in mind what flowers are blooming near your wedding if you've got a certain bloom or certain colors in mind, but other than that, you're good to go with whatever colors you'd like.

I love the color yellow and think it would be perfect. I also dont think that you need to pick your colors based on the season, you should pick the colors you love and will have fun decorating with.

My wedding is in May and my colors are cobalt blue and Black (not "springy" colors)

I agree that the season shouldn't dictate your wedding colors. Your colors sound beautiful and they would be fine in October. If you're stuck on your colors feeling fallish you could always throw in some chocolate brown like Meredith said. I think it would look great as an accent with your colors. We changed our date from 9/18/10 to 6/5/10 & kept our colors :-)

Thanks ladies! I may try making it a navy blue with yellow accents, rather than an aqua color, but who knows (gotta run that one by the FI- he has actually been pretty active about all the wedding planning...sometimes maybe too active, haha). Thanks for reminding me I need to go with the colors I want, not what the season dictates :)

Just a note- I LOVE navy and yellow, and I think it works any time of year. That said, aqua and yellow would be so pretty too and, of course, go with what you love! Is your reception inside? If so, it doesn't matter what season it is outside, inside is your way! Ditto with a tent even. :)

It should still be green outside on October 8th so I think the colors you have chosen would look great for outdoor pics. Leaves won't start changing until later.

I am getting married Oct. 2 and my colors are hot pink, black and white damask, and silver accents.....so I am totally nowhere near a "fall" colored wedding.  That was just always the colors that I had envisioned for my wedding, so I couldn't help it what time of year they ended up being used in!  I think you should go with whatever makes you happiest and not worry about what time of year it is.  It's your wedding, not a holiday like Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. where people always associate certain colors with the holidays.
