Ok ladies! The FI and I went to see Mount Harmon Plantation on Saturday. Here are my thoughts.
The location is neat but about 45 mins away. The road going into the plantation is almost 2 miles and it is a one car dirt gravel road with trees on each side. It was like stepping back in time. Loved that for about the first mile! lol.
The house itself was really cute. The property is huuuuuuuge!!! The woman Phyllis is very nice. It's not as close to the water as I had hoped due to trees lining the banks, etc. but you can see the water.
Pros -
*The property would be perfect for my "southern belle" theme
*You can choose the setup of ceremony - reception
*Guests can have a tour of the house
Cons-
*It's probably the case with alot of places - but they added an extra $1000 for a security deposit which would be returned 3 weeks after the reception. That's really not in my budget.
*There is NO backup rain plan - everything must be held outside
*Worried about the drive home for my guests considering how far it is
So... This is the first place i've looked. More to come. The Grand Opera House had to reschedule with me AGAIN! I'm starting to get frustrated with that place - which just happens to be the place i'm extremely interested to see.
