More ceremony music talk...you think this sounds like a hot mess?

Firstly, thank you to the ladies who suggested VSQ to me a few days ago.  I spent 2 hours going thru songs by them last night haha (should have been studying oops).  I think we will use a mix of their stuff for our prelude (esp their DMB stuff since this is FI's fav band).

Sooo where I'm unsure of things...I mentioned in my previous post that Canon in D has always been something FI wanted in his wedding and when I  started listening to traditional wedding music it was the only thing I liked (actually made me tear up).  But, I hate all other traditional music, hence my VSQ binge.  I was thinking though that I could at least walk down to Canon in D since it would kinda lead us into the seriousness of the ceremony with something traditional (we aren't having this super intense ceremony, but we aren't getting married by a clown either) and is something we both really like.  Well, last night in my "research" I found that VSQ does Enter the Sandman. FI went to Virginia Tech and this is VT's football team's entrance song and gets him PUMPED.  When I sent it to him, he said "Can I plllllllease enter the ceremony to this?"  It isn't the Metallica version so I thought it would be fun and lighthearted (more our style) while still retaining some class.  And then, FI and I love Coldplay "Fix You" (kinda sad I know but also about being someone's strength and there will be no lyrics) so when I found the VSQ version I really wanted to include it.  So I was thinking maybe for the WP procession.

But, is that a ridiculous line up (Enter the Sandman to Fix You to Canon in D)?  Or is it ok because it goes from light-hearted and gradually gets more serious?  If you think this will be a mess, please be honest.  I'm trying to hear it in my head and I just can't decide.  I know it would be super personal and show our many facets but I don't want it to seem like Cybil either.

  • I think it sounds fine, particularly because it will all be instrumental.

  • I am totally in love with VSQ and we are using them throughout our ceremony as well! I think it will sound fine since it is all instrumental and definately has a personal touch which is very nice
