So I posted recently about a shower I was attending for a friend and I wanted to update you all on how it went.
I arrived maybe 10 minutes late and there as already about 10 people there. Within the next couple minutes the rest of the ladies showed up. The house had minimal decorations. Now I dont mind if there is NO decor but there were a couple streamers and i mean a couple hung. They were so low you had to duck underneath them. It was a Hawaiian theme so there were leis and coconut bras. None of the ladies except myself wore a coconut bra! It seemed like they cared to much about what they would look like in one to wear one.
We played 3 games. First one was ABC of wedding. So we are all playing except for the bride. I dont know why but she didnt play. The girl that won put Zip for Z. I dont know how that is wedding related other then zipping up a dress but I wouldnt count that as wedding related! 2nd game was Whats in your purse? Bride again did not play.I just got a new purse so I had NOTHING in it! lol An older lady won. 3rd game TP bridal dress. We got in teams of 4. I think my team rocked it! At first I was like there is NO way we will win but once we got things going we had a nice ensemble. Our bride had a veil, and we even had a bouquet for her. The dress even had criss cross sleeves and a train! We didnt win. Felt like it was more of a popularity contest.
Then the bride started to open her gifts. Hostess didnt announce it and there were a group of 4 girls who just sat at the kitchen counter and chatted loudly the whole time! Didnt even turn to watch her open the gifts, just kept on chatting along with the hostess! I ended up taking pictures for my friend. My friend is a bit timid but at the same time can be wild. She received a couple sexy pairs of undies and apron lingerie ensemble from Victoria Secret. She was too afraid to hold them up because FI mom was there. BTW her and FI have a child so its not like the mother doesnt know they have done the deed.
Then my friend asked me to announce if everyone could stand next to the fire place to take a group photo. I did because the hostess was to afraid to be loud and get peoples attention.
As people were leaving the hostess was too busy chatting to even notice people were leaving and I took pictures of the bride and each of the guests as they went out the door.
I felt so bad for my friend. It seemed like the people there didnt even care about her. It was almost like they were there for charity. Her mom didnt come because she "had a spider bite" and her grandmother didnt come because "she didnt want to." She had no family other then a couple from FI side. It came off like the hostess was too busy to take control of her own party and I ended up being the one to gather people, mingle, be the photographer.
