Small Venue Help!?

I am an East TX bride, but we've had to move up our wedding date and there are very few venues here to choose from, much less that have open weekends for a wedding!  We are having a small wedding, appx 50 guests......any ideas on a small, intimate venue ANYWHERE in the DFW area?  The only venues I can seem to find are for 200+ parties and are too big.

Thanks in advance!  :)

Re: Small Venue Help!?

  • There is a place in mesquite called Wisteria Place. I looked at it at first for my wedding before deciding it was too small.

  • You might check some restaurants.  One bride here had her reception at Maggiano's and it was really nice.  Another had her whole ceremony/reception on the rooftop of El Fenix Downtown.

  • Do you have a budget that you're trying to stay within? I'm using the Rose Chapel in Fort Worth and if you used only their "Reception Salon" for your reception, I think it would be perfect for 50 people. They aren't super budget friendly though if you don't need all of the rooms, so that's why I ask. The chapel with reception salon is $2100 for a Saturday, for 6.5 hours (but that counts from the second you arrive, and also the 30 minute clean up that they do).

Also, do you have a preference of indoor or outdoor? I remember finding several places that charge you based on your number of guests, so that may be a good route to go. I believe that one of those is Weston Gardens (again, Fort Worth), but they are an entirely outdoor venue.

  • Reata restaurant (in downtown FW) has several private rooms of various sizes. They have a pretty high food & beverage minimum for a Saturday night, though (at least, I thought when I inquired). http://www.reata.net/fort-worth-private-dining.html
  • Event 1013 in Plano comes to mind if they have an opening.

Thanks y'all! No set budget, although we don't want to spend a fortune if we don't have to. I would rather the ceremony be outdoor but if I can find a location I like that doesn't really matter either.
  • Well, for outdoor venues, the first thing I think of is the Botanic Gardens (either FW or Dallas) or Clark Gardens in Weatherford. I'm sure there are a ton more in the metroplex, those are just the ones that come to mind first.
  • I'm partial to our venue because it's so beautiful and doesnt need much decorating.  You have the option of using the upstairs and downstairs or just the downstairs.  It's called Victor's Event Room and their website is www.carlosandcarla.com...they're pretty affordable and have multiple options for you to choose from.  It's in between Arlington and Grand Priairie so I'm not sure if the location is good for you...

The FW Botanic gardens was my first thought as well. They have several gardens that are small and beautiful.
  • When I was venue shopping last summer, I found a few spots in Grapevine that were perfect for a very intimate wedding. One was Cross Timbers Winery (very rustic) and the other was http://www.labuenavida.com/ - a very cute little winery that is nesled out of the way with not much traffic.

We were married at Belltower Chapel and Gardens in Fort Worth. The chapel is a bit large for a small wedding (we had 100 guests and it was perfect), but their garden area would make for a very intimate wedding and reception and I would recommend them for anywone. The staff was excellent (and we put them to the test! :)

I am helping my friends plan a wedding now and they are doing it at the Dallas World Aquarium Zoo. The reef area or the observation tube are both great for a small wedding and Kyle, the coordinator, is great! :)

Good luck! It's so exciting to plan a wedding. Stressful as it is, it's all wonderful in the end!

  • We are getting married at Chestnut Square Chapel in Mckinney.  It's a 1908 wedding chapel with a reception room that holds up to 100 guests.
