Friend & Guest?

We have a pretty large group of mutual friends. My question is, if there is a single person we are wanting to invite and we know they will have plenty of people they know at the wedding do we have to allow them to bring a guest anyways? I dont want to seem rude but I would honestly like to invite more people I know instead of making alot of extra room for dates. And if we dont have to allow a guest, how do we approach someone if they try to RSVP for 2 people?

<div>If they are truly single, you do not need to invite them with a guest.  You address the envelope just to them, and don't include anything about a guest.  You can make it even more clear by putting the name or "1 seat is reserved in your honor" on the RSVP card.</div><div>
</div><div>Etiquette only requires that those in relationships be invited with their significant other. </div>
