Ering Sizing

Do any of you know if the diamond is removed from your Ering when it's sized?  Has anyone gotten had their ring sized at Diamonds Direct that wasn't bought there?  I've had mine over a year, but just got it sized two weekends ago at DD. (I got my wedding band there.)

My Ering is from Jareds and I've had it resized a couple of times. . weight lose and extremely cold (ring actually flew off my finger). They've never removed the diamond and I'm not really sure if that's protocol, but I've never heard of this being done before.

My ring is from DD but they had to send it back to the designer to be sized due to the fact I have a tension band.  But I'm not sure why they would take the diamond out of a regular ring.  Are you concerned this happened?

I don't know it just seems different.  I might have be because it was so dirty that when they cleaned, it looks different.  The diamond almost looks different in the band...but once again it can be because it was re-dipped and cleaned.  I think I am just letting the horror stories I heard get the best of me.  I just wanted to make sure the diamond wasn't actually removed to resize the ring.  I also worry about the diamond becoming loose.

If youre really concerned, Im pretty sure (Correct me if Im wrong), that the diamonds should have a number on them (like a ID number). You'd have to obviously look with a microscope, but you could just have that rechecked to settle your nerves.

otherwise. . when rings are really dirty. They can look kind of different when they're all shiney and new looking :)

    Im sure everything is fine!

i do not believe all diamonds have an id number...but, you can take your appraisal somewhere and have them look at the 'inclusions' and so forth listed in the appraisal (it should include a picture of where they are located) and see what they say.

and, no, i do not believe they remove the stone when they size a ring down - to make sure, you could call a couple jewelers and ask if they do.  however, on a happy note, DD is a pretty reputable company so they would not be a company i would necessarily worry about.  hth!
