To veil or not to veil...

That is the question! I am so torn on this and wondered what all you girls are doing. I've saved tons of pics on pinterest and TK of hairstyles that I like but they all have one glaring thing in common: none of the women are wearing veils. A lot have fabric flowers which I love, some nothing at all. I'm going for a low, pinned curls or bun look with side-swept bangs. I always thought I wanted a veil but now I'm not sure. Plus, I've had a hard time finding one that I like so far. So what are you girls doing?

I'm doing a veil with a head piece. I'll take the veil off after the ceremony pictures. I just couldn't picture myself without a veil! Mine is a plain invory tulle with no lace or beading - just very simple and classic.

Have you considered wearing one for the ceremony and then losing it? I love this look:

I have considered this, and if I planned to do this, I would definitely either have a hair pin or flower in my hair too so that I still had something after I took the veil off. I'm the same way as you about not being able to picture myself without one. But I love all these pictures of women without them!

I never wanted a veil until I tried on a cathedral style that I absolutely fell in love with.I wont have it cover my face though it will just fall down the back of my hair.

I am having a fingertip length veil with a jeweled headband. Cathedral length is not for me.

I was torn between wearing a veil or not. I've always imagined myself with one, but I love all these hairstyles without one or with a flower. That's a good idea to have one for the ceremony and take it off for the reception. If I do end up having one it will be fingertip length.

Ditto the veil and headband combo. The veil was the one thing my mom wouldn't budge on, so this will be the one thing I won't mind doing for her. It'll be a one-layer elbow or fingertip length on a simple comb that I can take off after the ceremony/pictures. I'll probably wear it tucked under my updo.

Cathedral length is so beautiful, but way too much of a hassle for me. My MOH has one for her wedding and she's so stunning in it.... and I'll be the one having to fix it a million times!

I have a cathedral length veil with rinestones and pearls. It is two teired and the long teir will come off after the ceremony leaving the shorter part for the rest of the event. I also want a rinestone and pearl headband but I haven't found it yet.

Its between a flower, like what's in my siggy or rhinestone hair pins, which I already own, so I'll probably just do that and save a few $.

I also could not imagine getting married without one but since we're having an outdoor ceremony i opted out of the more traditional fingertip with a blusher for a birdcage. But then i realized after a made a birdcage veil with fabric flowers that having the birdcage in front of my face didnt work cause it drove my crazy lol so i did a flip-a-roo so the veil covers the back of my hair and now i love it. The veil will be removed to jsut a fabric flower for the reception. Yay!

I'm doing a veil and headpiece. My BM is making my headpiece (in siggy), and I want a low veil placement...like under my hairdo, which will be a low updo. I don't want it on top of my head, but I want it up off my neck.

My cousin just got married in October. She started out with a veil, but it was insanely windy outside, and her ceremony was outside, so she ditched it. I always thought a veil was a necessity for a bride when I was young, but not so much anymore. Back in the day, I always imagined one that covered my face, but definitely not what I want now.

Im wearing my moms veil- its my something old- but we are trying to figure out to make it work- theres a lovely 80's tiara attached i'd rather not use.

Right now, I am thinking that I will wear sans veil for wedding party photos before the wedding, put the veil for formal family pictures in the church and the ceremony, and take it back off before the reception.

I'm doing a veil

My FMIL is making mine for me. I found a veil I love in the bridal salon, which was fingertip length with beading along the bottom. She told me she could recreate it. I am so excited it makes it so much more special for it to be from her.

I have an elbow length veil that is two tiered but pretty plain and basic, it has some ribbon on the bottom. I also have a headband/tiara thing to wear with it. I will be ditching the veil after the formals probably or first dance not entirely sure.

OP, can you share some of the photos you have of low hairstyles without veils? I'm having the opposite problem! I want a low hairstyle and do NOT want a veil, but I feel like all of the photos I like include a veil.
