  • What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration?
We just ordered our unity candle. It will be something like this in ivory and purple, with matching tapers:

We bought simple silver-plated candlesticks from a vintage shop to use with the tapers.

What wedding-related project are you tackling this May?
I'm hoping to be able to use some lace from my Mom's wedding dress to make my garter.  I'm also finishing the feather fascinators for the bridesmaids, and we're shopping for rings this month.

Tell us about/let us see your cake topper.  Is it retro/vintage?
We're not having a cake topper, but our cake will be shaped like a retro robot!  Here's a rough sketch of what it will look like:

  • Right now I am working on a photo's to take list.
I don't have a latest inspiration because at this point pretty much everything has been purchased or decided!

My cake topper is 'vintage' from 1982, my fiance's sisters cake topper from her wedding.

    What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration?

Milk glass, crystal, silver. We are trying to find  these fine items on the cheap at second-hand, consignment, thrift stores. So far we have been successful but we still need more milk glass! I thought it would be meaningful to try to use as much of these as possible in our wedding decor and then display them in our china hutch for years to come.

What wedding-related project are you tackling this May?

Booking our engagement pictures (photographer is a friend so whenever he is available) and deciding on outfits and locations. 40s themed soda shop is our inspiration.

No, it's not retro/vintage. My MOH is making it for me as part of my wedding gift. It's a clay peacock and peahen. I don't have the pictures of my real cake topper, but this was my inspiration:

The difference is that my peacocks will be white with gold accents. The peahen is going to be on the second tier and they will probably be looking at each other. I fo have a picture of her rough draft (very rough, not even baked painted etc.) under DIY. She is more talented than this Etsy seller and I saved about $85 by having her make it for me.

Nothing new. We leave for our DW in exactly one week!!!

What wedding-related project are you tackling this May?
Everything is pretty much done. I printed out welcome letters the other day, bought lace to wrap around my bouquet, and bought the unity candle set. I pick up my dress on Monday and pick up FI's suit on Wednesday.

    What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration?
I'm searching out purple glass (goblets, compotes, etc) to use as the cake stand bases.  And I just bought FI his wedding gift!  It's a vintage rose-gold pocket watch.  It's gorgeous and his wedding band is rose-gold also.  I just have to think of a good inscription for the watch.

What wedding-related project are you tackling this May?
Ordering all the bridesmaid dresses, ordering my crinoline, and re-starting my wedding diet/workout routine.

You're all probably tired of seeing it, but here it is again.  It's neither retro nor vintage, but 100% DIY.

  • What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration? No new ideas as of right now

What wedding-related project are you tackling this May? I also need to start the workout regimen (I'm typing this as I stuff my face with pizza), finding or making a garter, and finding shoes, glorious shoes!!!

Tell us about/let us see your cake topper.  Is it retro/vintage? No cake topper. We are having one of those trendy two tiered cakes with a black band at the base and a single gum paste flower surrounded by black feathers at the base of the first tier.

I'm so glad to be back. I missed everyone!

    What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration?
Nothing new, I've just been going through all of my inspiration pics all over again, and just getting back into the planning groove

What wedding-related project are you tackling this May?
Well, since everything was on hold for so long I'm starting at square one with my inspiration folders. I'm seeing what really catches my eye. As I look through all of my pictures I notice there are things that I won't change my mind on, and I'm picturing what I really want things to look like.
    For example:
What our cake table will look like with decorations and flowers,
What our cake will actually look like, and what flowers and greens to decorate it with.
What my gown will look like with a long black organza wrap,
What flowers I can grow myself or buy locally for bouquets and decor,
What jewelry I really want to wear
Pretty much everything is coming back....

I' am a huge sucker for crystals. I think they are elegant and classy, and absolutely romantic. I have a couple that I really like. I also want to have ravens or crows on our cake or right next to our cake with a bird cage with the door open and flowers inside. It's probably a weird vision to some people, but I had wonderful vision of our cake table set-up and I HAVE to sketch it before it fades in my mind...I'm currently on the search for the perfect bird figurines.

We would be using the letter "T"

Using this cake as an example. The flower would be deep red and deep purple with springs of chocolate mint from my garden. I want the flowers between each tier and on the top with the crystal topper. Bird cage and crows/ravens would be on the table surrounded with dark candles and flowers. we're not sure, but we might add a simple black design to the icing on the cake.

There....I posted it here so now I can't forget it. :)

Ok, I have one more cake to post...but picture it with fewer flowers, and add deep purple flowers.

My latest vintage inspiration is the fan-shaped silver vase (sort of deco looking) above, which I love but the FI isn't so thrilled with.  Ha!
