I hope these are helpful! Reviews always helped me when I was planning my wedding!
Rehearsal Dinner: The Melting Pot, Ft. Lauderdale - A+So good! So easy! They have a room that holds up to 32 people, a smaller room, and they can even accomodate a larger group in their dining room. We had 27 people, and they gave us 3 servers. They were so attentive and explained everything to the guests as we went through the meal. It was such a fun way to start the weekend, with many of our guests having never been before. Everyone was engaged throughout all 4 courses, and were complimenting on how good the food was. They were flexible with our requests and made sure that we were all on board about the meal, the timing, and any additional charges.
Ceremony/Reception: Hillcrest Golf and Country Club - A
We can't stop talking about how much fun we had at our wedding, and so much of that is due to Hillcrest's willingness to fulfill all of the ideas we had for our wedding. It certainly helps that both the outdoor ceremony space and the inside reception area are gorgeous. Carol is amazing with communication, responding to every e-mail within about 12 hours and the answer is always "no problem." She really seemed to understand our vision and gave us guidance to achieve it. The food was AWESOME and we had the flexibility to customize our menu to accomodate our budget and overall preferences. Drinks were flowing, which guests enjoyed, and the entire thing was just beautiful. Only issues had: there was a tip jar at the bar, which was removed once I spotted it, they threw out all of the boxes we brought our stuff in, which made loading and unloading the cars after the wedding a pain, and we gave the valet a tip ahead of time so he wouldn't accept them from our guests, and he definitely did! However, if those are the only issues in a 5 hour reception, plus ceremony, for 110 guests, that's not too bad!
Photography: Travis Harris, Review pending pictures
Travis was there all day, didn't get in anyone's way, and was really all over the place getting pictures of everyone and all of the different elements we have. He arrived early and got right to work. His personality is great, and I can't wait to see the pictures. The ONLY thing I would say is that I wish I was prepared with more ideas for pictures/fun poses. He took the portraits but didn't give any direction for the cute pictures that I'm used to seeing (all the girls blowing kisses to the groom, things like that). I don't really think that will make or break our wedding album, so it's fine.
Photo Booth: Travis Harris, A++++++++++++++
Get it! Your guests, of all ages, will thank you! This was sooooo much fun!!!! We bought props and there was a line all night long. I had a zip file with every single image 2 days later, and was able to print out some photos and send with thank you cards.
Videography: Reinhardt Productions, Pending Review
Like Travis, he got there early and stayed out of everyone's way! Can't wait to see the video. There was also an issue with the weather/wind on the day of the wedding (see Dream Makers review), and Marty really stood up for me having the wedding outside and came up with a solution to solve any video/photography problems the wind could have caused. You could really see his experience and professionalism with the way he handled it. I really couldn't thank him enough for that.
Florist: Dream Makers by Rose Kish, A
Rose is awesome and a true professional. She helped us with the design planning all throughout the process, helping us choose linen colors and charger colors, even though we were not getting them from her. Everything came together so beautifully and I believe it's in large part due to Rose's eye. Our flowers were exactly what we wanted, and we got them for a great price. Our chuppah was the prettiest I've ever seen and looked exactly like the picture I showed them. They came early and I was just in awe at everything they were doing from the minute they got there until I saw the final product.
We did have an issue with the chuppah set up crew, though. It was pretty windy that day, and they kept pressuring both my husband and I to move the ceremony inside. I was worried the chuppah might tip over, but was assured that wouldn't happen. Well, since the chuppah won't fall, then why are you being so pushy about moving it in?? The whole thing was really odd and not something you want to be dealing with 3 hours before your wedding. First the people needed to leave right away, then she was going to make them wait to put the flowers on, then they needed to leave. It was a little crazy. At one point, the chuppah lady, Carol from Hillcrest, Travis Harris, Marty Reinhardt and I were in a room staring out a window for 5 minutes. I kept saying I wanted it outside, the lady kept suggesting to move it inside, and finally Marty Reinhardt just kind of took the reins, said that it will be outside, and let's just talk about a way to solve any issues that could come from the wind. The conversation about the chuppah was over at that point, it went outside and it was AMAZING! It REALLY was beautiful, but the chuppah situation really put a bad taste in my mouth.
First Rabbi: Richard Polier, F-
Cancelled 3 days before the wedding.
Replacement Rabbi: Gary Sherman, A+
We met Gary on the day of our wedding, but from the ceremony he gave, you would have thought we'd known him for a year! Many guests told us how beautiful the ceremony was, and it was really everything we had hoped for. A really great combination of Jewish traditions and Hebrew with English translations and explainations. Really wonderful!
DJ and uplighting: Liquid DJs, A
Communication with this company is great, Shannon is awesome, and so willing to talk you through everything. Our DJ was Anthony and he was really good. He had people on the dance floor all night, which was difficult since we had an ice cream bar and photo booth that people had really flocked to. My husband used to DJ and was really pleased with Anthony's DJ-ing - mainly his transitions between songs and, again, the ability to keep people on the floor. We also did uplighting through them which looked AMAZING, the white DJ booth is so classy, and they did the sound for our ceremony without a hitch. The ONLY issues that I had was that we/our parents weren't given any warning for the father/daughter or mother/son dances. My dad was smoking a cigarette and my brother needed to run and find him, although the song had already started, and my husband's mother was in the bathroom when their song started. A two minute heads up would have been really appreciated! Also, we only had 9 "must-play" songs and, while I haven't looked at the list, I know that at least 3 of them weren't played. No one noticed, the party was still great, but it's just a little odd that when you're only saying that 9 must be played, there wasn't any time in a 4 hour reception to play them all.
Cake: Elite Cake Creations, A+
We had a choice of 3 cake vendors with the package from our venue. After tasting at all 3, we knew, hands down, that Elite Cake was the one for us. The cakes included in the packages are amazing but if you want upgrades, they are very affordable. We had so many compliments on how good our wedding cake was, and we couldn't agree more!
Dress/Alterations: Mariolka's Bridal Salon, B
My mother, grandmother, and I all bought dresses for my wedding at this store. The owners absolutely make you feel like a million bucks, and even gave us a bottle of champagne when I bought my dress. I used them for alterations, however, and really regret that. I only needed a hem and bustle, but my dress had some details on the back that I was told would be visible with the bustle, which is why I decided to do alterations at the store. However, when I went for my fitting, the detail was hidden with the bustle and half of the dress still hung on the floor. She said she would add more to the bustle and I, stupidly, did not try the dress on again when I went to pick it up. When my sister went to bustle it after the ceremony, half of it was still hanging on the floor and people stepped on my dress all throughout the cocktail hour and first 20 minutes of the reception. We finally remembered that there were safety pins in the bathroom baskets so my sister, husband, and bridesmaid all pinned my up and I was good to go. Definitely a great place to buy a dress, they have an amazing selection, fair prices, and are so nice, but I wish I looked elsewhere for the alterations.
Ceremony/Cocktail Hour music: Eleganza Strings, A+
They were so easy to work with! We hired a string trio for our ceremony and a pianist for the cocktail hour. The string trio was amazing and even learned a song for our wedding processional. Communication was so easy, and Anna was the only vendor that would sporadically touch base with me throughout the process. I really can't thank them enough for helping us achieve a beautiful wedding.
Transportation, Padrino Limo, A
We reserved an antique car from them and it was perfect! They were right on time, the car was beautiful, and it was fun to drive from our venue to hotel in style! They were the only company I found that would do an antique car for a one-way, 1 hour, transfer. It was a little expensive, but we decided to splurge since we hadn't gotten a limo earlier in the day.
Hair and Makeup: Mobile Make Up/Anna Wark, A++
Not to brag, but...
Anna and her assistant made my family, bridesmaids, and I look AMAZING on my wedding day. They were on time all throughout the morning, which was not an easy task as we had 11 or 12 services provided on 8 people (either hair, makeup, or both). They were able to achieve the look that each person showed them, and everyone was thrilled with the end result. I had airbrushing done and it lasted throughout the entire day and, when you do pictures beforehand, we're talking about 10 hours. My whole look was exactly what I wanted, and I just couldn't believe that both hair and makeup held up throughout all of my dancing, crying, and sweating! Can't recommend them enough! It also helps that their prices were the best I found
Ice cream sundae bar: Coldstone Creamery, A
So fun! Guests loved it! They were right on time, super affordable, and such a fun touch to the wedding. We should have gotten more ice cream though, we told them 100 cups for 110 guests, and they ran out before the 2 hours were up and some people didn't get any. We found out that some people went up multiple times, LOL, so I wish we would have up-ed our amount to service for 150.
