It's my niece's birthday this weekend! So, my in laws are coming up tomorrow and staying with us. So I think birthday cake and golf is on my super stressful agenda.
That is after today. In which I have a horribly stressful meeting I must get through, and then get my oil changed, but THEN WATCH OUT WORLD!
Good morning! Alexia, I haven't seen you in a while!
I need an oil change desperately too. I'll probably do that today or tomorrow. I have a couple sewing projects I might work on tomorrow while my H and his Dad built a storage/countertop thing for our patio. Tomorrow night I'm going to see a friend in a play. That's pretty much it!
ltb - I haven't started yet. I've just been babysitting and spending some time outside.
Fische - That sounds good. I'm still sore from the driving range - I may go hit some balls, but I'm pretty terrible and Robert won't be here to correct me... no good.
Hey Dani - Yeah, I've been babysitting and spending time outside. I'm a little toasty. And I have a reallllly stupid tan line down my back from where the ties of my bathing suit were laying. Hahaha.
I have home improvement project envy. I get too impatient.
Moving. It's a long story but basically I'm trying to buy a condo and it's not ready, but they're giving me a temporary unit in the same building until mine is ready. So we're moving sometime in the next couple of weeks, but I can't figure out exactly when because my current building isn't calling me back about when I can reserve the elevator. (Apparently somebody is only in the management office on Mondays - WTF.)
Good morning! T's birthday is Tuesday so we'll celebrate tomorrow. In 1 hour and 49 minutes my life will officially be consumed with soccer for a while.......and I'm pretty happy about that.
My birthday gift to Trevor (well part of it) is I'm taking all of his soccer newspaper articles, awards, memorabilia stuff from when he was in high school/college and putting them all in a scrapbook. He thought his parents threw all of this stuff away and they found it in a crawl space a few weeks ago, so he doesn't even know it still exists. He's gonna freak! There's nothing he loves more then talking about soccer.
qq - Good luck! Sounds complicated, but like you've got it under control.
Mag - I've missed you too!! Also, my computer broke and we're waiting 6 more weeks to get me a MacBook, so I'm using Robert's. For oil changes, I pay the damn dealerships overpriced fees because EVERYONE else does something wrong or screws up my car. It's really obnoxious.
I go to the dealership, too. And while I pay extra moola, I only have to get it changed every 6 thousand miles or so. They say you can go 10,000, but that just seems so wrong to me, synthetic oil or not.
Hey guys! FI and I went to see Kick-Ass yesterday in the last theater in NYC that's playing it yesterday, and I'm really glad I went, because it rocked. Good thing I thought so, because FI has already been to see it four other times, and he thinks it's the best movie he's seen in a long time. I was a little bit nervous about going to see it, because I was afraid I woudn't like it and then he wouldn't love me anymore. The two of us can get pretty emotional about our favorite movies.
Today I think I'm going to resist all urges to do anything. I need a day to sit on my ass and just relax. I think we're going to watch Gettysburg later and that makes me happy.
Hey hey! Afternoon to you all. It's been raining constantly since Tuesday here, and it's not supposed to stop until Monday. Major bummer. But, this weekend, we're supposed to go to H's boss' summer house for the day. We'll see how that works out with the crap weather.
BUT at least I bought wine AND Ben and Jerry's Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream last night. Makes for a gooooood weekend.
Tonight we're going to the Italian Festival in Wilmington. Lots of good food, rides and music Probably out on the boat tomorrow, maybe up to Philly tomorrow night for a fundraiser that my friend is hosting.
Sunday we might have to help my grandparents move my 91 year old great aunt. The home where she's living is changing from Assisted Living to only Independant Living so all of the Assisteds are getting stuck in the local nursing home. It really pisses me off because I know she's going to hate it and it would be much better to move her to another assisted living place, but my dad's cousin who makes all of the legal desicions for my great aunt lives in NH so she's not even around. I'm just worried she's going to give up once she's in the nursing home
Oh Mag! Yeah I can see why you wouldn't want to do it then! My problem is that if I leave it my H's hands, it just doesn't get done. Hence we are 4,000 miles over when it was supposed to have an oil change.
Hi! I'm still recovering from a bad, bad cold earlier this week, and my voice is shot. I signed up to do a 10k tomorrow morn, and Im a little nervous about it because I still feel a bit run down. Happy Friday everyone!
Mag, I can completely relate. Before I bought my Toyota I had an old man car from the 80s and I hated getting my oil changed at the random chains. They always were trying to con me so I sat there for an extra 20 minutes telling them to get off my grill cuz this ain't no bbq. I always insisted that they write down the issue and that I would consider it/show it to my dad. Eventually I just started taking it to this mom n' pop mechanic that we trusted.
Now that I have a Toyota I just take it to the dealership and it is actually cheaper than the old place I went to . I used to pay $35 and now I pay $27. Boo-yah!
Morning everyone. I will spend my weekend in bed recuperating from this awful cold. On Sunday DH and Milhouse and I are doing a one-mile 'dog jog' for the local Humane Society, but that's it. It's DH's first race so he's really excited.
We are also putting the wheels in motion for DH's new car. Luckily, I have an uncle that's a used car dealer that buys direct from auctions and will sell us what he wants at cost...but we have to wait a week or two until he can find it and then drive up to Chicago to get it, which is a pain.
I'm also really sad--DH's aunt who is in her mid-fifties is entering hospice care and stopping all chemo and radiation. She's had ovarian cancer for 6 years and her body just can't take any more. She's a great woman and I feel so horrible for her husband.

Yeah, dani, it's really sad. They just celebrated their 20th anniversary and were able to take a beautiful trip to CO, and have been trying to do things to cross off her bucket list for the last year or two. She was able to make the trip to our wedding, but had to go back to the hotel after the ceremony. She's such a sweetheart and it's so, so sad. They don't have any kids, so her husband is kind of on his own in this.

Aw that is really sad Brie. Today is rainy like it has been all week and I could hear all the toads/frogs making noises this morning. It freaked me out so bad I had H take the dog out, I hate toads so much. My mom has an appointment this morning that is really make or break for her so I'm nervous to see how it goes. I just want to be there with her but I'm so far away.
Good Morning! Alexia and Mag, that's why I sleep with the guy who does my oil changes and other minor repairs. Plus, he's got connections for the other stuff, like body work, tune-ups, etc
Brie, sorry to hear about DH's aunt. It's hard to see that happen to someone so young.
Oh, and as far as weekend plans go, J would like to go riding with me and I'd like to get out on the bike; we'll have to see if my tailbone can take it yet. Maybe dinner and a movie, too. In two weeks, we're going to an Indy race up here - should be exciting!

Good morning! It's gross and rainy here, but I get off work at 3:00 on Fridays all summer, plus one of my coworkers brought her dog in today. There is nothing not awesome about a dog.
I've got to take the pets to the vet, finish painting the bistro set I remembered I had yesterday and maybe even get H's friend to cut out the table top for me to add mosaic tiles to. I want to mosaic with broken plates and tiles. H wants to use actual mosaic tiles. He may win because my design plan is kinda weird - and potentially difficult to do with plates.
I basically want B to cut a flower shape out of plywood. I'll then tile it in yellows and oranges with a black centre. The table and chairs are being painted green, and when I'm done, I'm going to put it out in the yard under some trees as part of the decor. I may even mosaic the chair seats.
Depending on my progress on this, I may go garage saling.
