I found this really cool idea for candle centerpieces.
I have three questions.
1. I found cardboard cupcake stands that you fold into shape, but I'm afraid to use candles on it because I don't want a fire hazard. However, from the picture, it looks like the candles wouldn't be under the next tier. Would I be asking for trouble? Cardboard would be about a third of the price of a regular cupcake stand.
2. Do you have any ideas to give this centerpiece a little punch? It's pretty but I feel like it needs a little something. But I dunno what.
3. Do you lovely creative ladies have any other ideas for a non floral centerpiece? I'm really drawn to candles, but I don't want the "standard" candle centerpieces (i.e. a cylinder with submerged flowers and a floating candle. It's pretty, but it's not me, y'know?)
Thanks!
Re: Centerpiece help
The idea Im playing with is this:
The vase, rocks, and petals strung on fishing wire would all come from Dollar tree, the gems from (shopwildthings.com) and the branches from my yard. I found a few that Im drying and seeing how it looks but Im not convinced this is "it"...
Edit. I reread yours, dont use a cardboard cupcake stand that will catch fire. Use cake plates with pillars on them. If you dont have cake plates you can make them inexpensive by hot gluing a candle stick holder to the bottom of a plate. Check out Goodwill for an assortment of vintage plates. Mix and match. When your done with them keep them as cake plates or cut away the hot glue and keep the plates seperate. And did you notice the votive on the place setting. It looks like a frosted votive with their name written in gold and then a votive.. super cute!
Ditto PP's idea of using cake plates, or making cake plates and stacking them, instead.

one concern is that though the candles look same ( in glass) if they get knocked over they are on soemthing highly flamible. could you substitute real candles for led candles? they can be really real looking and would be totaly worry free.
as far as punch you could add flowers or flower petals underneath.
However, I just don't think the cardboard would look nice. I need to see it.
Before I link you to any other inspiration, check your contract- does your venue have any restrictions about candles? I know that most do- no open flame, must be in a glass holder, some places even say you can only do votives- no pillars. Boo.
Check on that & let me know, then I will get to linkin'!

There are no restrictions on candles hippie, but I'd prefer to stick to tealights, because pillars could end up a mess. And jenell, that's why I wanted some ideas, because I want something pretty but not ridiculously expensive. That's one of the reasons I don't want flower centerpieces. I think PP are right that it probably wouldn't hold the weight.
Any other ideas for candle cps?
