Rain on my Wedding Day...

Hi All,

I dont knot much at all, but I am scrambling for some ideas and figured I could count on you ladies!  I am getting married on Saturday in Portland (Eastland Park Hotel) and the forecast is rain!  I wouldnt really mind so much, but we were planning on doing some pictures outside at either the East End or Dearing Oaks Park.  But, with the rain we are trying to come up with a back up plan...any ideas?  I will take anything!  The hotel is always an option, but all of our pics will be there...I would like to have a little bit of a location variety.  We only left an hour for pics, so some place close would be nice.
The only idea that I have is to see if we can get into a local theatre and take some pics on stage...I think that would be so cool, but not sure how possible that would be.  Any one have any connections with anyone involved with theatre?

TIA   Kiss

I got married at the Eastland Park Hotel, and it poured on our wedding day. We got married at the church across the street, and had great pictures there, you can see if they'd let you in, you'd most likely have to pay for someone to let you in. There is an art museum up on Free Street.

I went to target and bought 10 large black golf umbrellas, we had a lot of fun pictures with those. If you know it's going to rain I would get some nice umbrellas and have some fun!

Google Maps says there's Marcy's Diner not too far from the hotel at 47 Oak St.

Pretty sure that hotel has a restaurant/lounge at the very top that has nice views. Might be a good spot for photos?

I personally love the umbrella idea.  Get some in your wedding colors- and maybe some cute rain boots too!

You could call Portland High School or Merrill Autitorium to see if they could have the doors open for any time period on Saturday (they both have stages).  Theres the art museum & childrens museum on Free street.  As far as diners theres always Beckys & the Porthole (recently featured on Diners Drive ins and Dives!) & Steve & Renees or Cathy & Daves.. mm...

There's a mondern looking covered bus-stop on Congress Street down by Monument Square.  That might be neat.  There are also some neat buildings with large door-ways (Portland City hall?) that you can get some semi-sheltered photos in.  Try to make it an asset - something to set your pics apart from everyone else's.  I just picture you in your dress with some cute rubber rain boots and standing in a puddle.  SO Cute!  Have fun!

is your photographer local?  they may have great location ideas too.
i love that you're taking this so well, too many brides freak about the weather.
I was secretly hopting for rain, just for the artistic photos that could come from it, but I ended up with a freakishly beautiful October day...
get some super cute rain boots and a giant umbrella, and don't be afraid to get a little wet!  Have fun with it, the pictures could be AMAZING!!Surprised

Yes, the one on Marginal Way is the Miss Portland Diner, and there is also Becky's Diner down on Commercial Street.
