Bora Bora

Has anyone planned a destination wedding to Bora Bora or any of the other French Polynesian islands?  I am recently engaged and we are just started to look around now.  From our research so far, we are leaning towards the Intercontinental and Thalasso Spa.  Their wedding chapel looks amazing!!

Welcome to the board!!  Fi and I are getting married on a cruise through the Carribbean, so I'm not much help with Bora Bora.

However, you might want to check out the DW Brides bio:

  • No, I'm a St Thomas bride but I must say I'm super jealous! Bora Bora looks fantastic! I think you should stay at the hotel that is on that movie Couple's Retreat!

  • I am not getting married in Bora Bora but did look into it.  I could be wrong, but when doing my research on this destination it was not an official ceremony but a symbolic one.  Therefore, not recognized in the United States.
  • I'm a Costa Rica bride, so no help, but a little jealous, how exotic!!  Welcome to the board!

  • I haven't gotten married there, but one thing you may want to consider is that travel to Bora Bora is pretty expensive.  If you want to have a bunch of guests, make sure you give them plenty of time to save up, or be prepared for a very small, intimate wedding.

I'm a PuntaCana bride, but Bora Bora sounds like it will be an amazing destination to get married in!!!
  • Jamaican Bride here. Bora Bora is my dream vacation..sigh...but it was out of my budget for a DW so I am no help. Welcome & congrats though!!
  • Bora Bora is beautiful!!!!
I have always wanted to go.  We may do our honeymoon there.  Airfare there is way too expensive for all my guests to travel.  We are getting married in Aruba so I am no real help either.

    Welcome and happy planning!
  • My sister went there on her honeymoon, she wants to go back for her 10yr anniversary.  THere is no all inclusive so it gets expensive fast . . .but if you can afford it, go for it.  Absolutley gorgeous!!

My close friends just got married at the new Sandals resort in St. Lucia.  Where are you getting married?

I have been doing some research and I have found out that as long as you are in Tahiti / islands for at least 3 days you can legally be married.  We are planning on having the wedding sometime next summer/fall (Aug-Oct) and then having a traditional reception at home.  My fiance and I will be the only ones going to Bora Bora so we don't need to worry about any guests, which I am hoping will make the planning process a little less stressful.

Its so hard to pick which hotel we will stay at because they all look so amazing!!
