Color, Color, Color

Hello all!!! I'm fairly new to this board, well kinda...I've been browsing around trying to find ideas and I'm still stuck on what colors I want to use. I guess I'm planning early but I know how indecisive I am so it may be for the best LOL. I've already picked out my E-ring, just waiting on him to "pop the question". Both of our favorite color is purple so I know that I want to incorporate that into the ceremony.  If anyone has any ideas/suggestions I would definitely appreciate it!!!

Re: Color, Color, Color

  • I would wait until he actually asks the question before planning...

I would also wait until you have a date picked out before you start planning...

Purple goes with EVERY season, which is why I say wait until the date is picked.

    Purple/green

    purple/white

    purple/silver/grey

    purple/yellow/grey (or silver)

    purple/orange

    purple/black

    purple/pink/white

    purple/champagne

and so on...I think after you GET engaged and you guys pick a date, the season will help with the color.

  • Having some planning ahead of time might not be the worst idea, honestly.

I planned nothing until I got engaged... and then when we picked a date it was less than six months away! (It made sense at the time.) It is working out fine for me, we're doing a really simple, intimate wedding so I'm not short on time, but I wouldn't have minded some more time to contemplate and play with ideas. If only to have an understanding of the options. I've missed a few things that I would have liked to have done because I wasn't aware of them. (In my case, asking the meddling parents if they would like to throw an engagement party and letting them invite whever they wanted to for that - so that we could keep our tiny guest list with fewer fights. Or planning a family reunion that doesn't happen during our wedding.)

So think about colors, think about what you like and what you don't like and why, figure out what is important to you. And figure out what's not.

Purple is an awesome color and if both of you love it I think you should embrace that. Lots of things can be done to encorporate a color - invitations, jewelry, flowers, etc.
  • Hello-

Planning I too am planning my wedding and it's not until 2014 on july 4th.
it's never to early to plan, more time to make sure everything is just the way you want it, and perfect for you and your husband-to-be.

My mom got married in September and she had purple also her and her husbands favorite color.
They did purple as their main accent color, along with a silver. it was very elegant and romantic. bridesmaid dressed were purple as well as the shoes but a close friend added silver beads to the shoess and dresses and just the right amount.

I did her centerpieces and had unique bowls, filled with purple and silver rocks added water and three candles to each bowl. and surrounded it were purple flower petals. it was really pretty. purple is a great color and easily goes well with everything.

  • Ditto Tiffanie that you don't want to actually start planning until you get engaged.  But daydreaming is fun!  You can also head over to the Not Engaged Yet board (on the left under Special Topics Boards) where there are lots of girls who are daydreaming.

My wedding was purple, royal blue, and white with bright green accents.  You can also check out www.theperfectpalette.com for some great colour combination ideas.

  • Purple goes with so many different colors, you really have so many options!  I personally love purple with a creamy tan color.  I think it looks so elegant and classy!
