So my FI & I are working on squaring away our music for the reception, he's a music producer & DJ so I'm pretty much letting the expert handle it! We own a store together & our neighbor is a record store whom we hang out with sometimes. The guys at the record store also do Soul Night at a local bar (& I LOVE soul music)- they have been selling out the shows more than a week ahead of time, everytime, and people are always talking about the night afterwards. We've been a few times & I absolutley loved it- people seriously get down to soul! So we were thinking about having them as our reception band (our theme is 50/60's casual, and the reception is at a brewery's beer garden). I would think this would go over well with the older people in the crowd as well as the youngsters like me, hearing their favorite oldies again, but what do you ladies think? Is Soul Night Funk music (no live band, just turntables & good ol vinyl) acceptable for a casual reception? Would you be excited or bummed if that was the only music we were playing (neither of us are top100 fans so the popular new music wouldn't be an option anyway)...
