I need prayers please.

I woke up a few days ago with what I thought was a crook in my neck. It went away after a few hours. The next day, I woke up and it was worse. The third day, it was even worse. I decided I would go to the doctor if it hadn't gotten better - well the 4th day it went away some. That was yesterday. Well today its hurts very badly again. I mentioned it to my mom and she's worried it might be spinal stenosis (which is what she had about 3 years ago). She had to have neck surgery and have the vertebra fused together. She has a metal plate now.   I really don't want neck surgery 8 months before my wedding. I'm hesistant to go to the doctor because I don't have health insurance - and I've been unemployed for 3 years. Saving money for a wedding while being unemployed is hard enough - much less with medical bills to pay too!!

So please, pray for my health, and a job (I've applied for 3 this past week)

Thanks

I'm so sorry and will pray for you.

However, you really should go to the doctor. Maybe you can find a free clinic or something, but you should go now, because if it is a major problem it could get worse with time (i.e. even MORE expensive). If it is a problem and you have to  pay for it out of pocket, if you find out about it now you could scale back on wedding expenses, as opposed to finding out how much iit costs after all your wedding expenses are nailed in and feeling badly about how much you spent on the wedding when you really needed to spend it on your health. Or maybe your doctor will tell it's fine, then you're worrying over nothing.

By the way, just thought I'd mention this because I just found out about it (and maybe you're as out of the loop as I am), if you happen to be under 27 and your parents have health insurance, you are covered because of the healthcare legislation.

I will pray for you Kali!!

Don't worry! This is ironic, but I work for a company that designs the devices for spine surgery. New technology today can take care of problems very quickly. There are lot of method before surgery too.

Also, while I'm sure your Mom is a smart lady, I would see a doctor before you start worrying about stenosis and fusion surgery. LOTS of things lead to neck pain.

I will definitely say a prayer!

Wow, that sounds pretty serious.  I hope you are able to get it checked out soon.  I'll pray for your employment situation as well as health coverage... and I have faith that God will show you the path He wants you to take.  Praying with specificity is a huge part of my core belief about prayer, as well as many others in my church, so if you haven't already, definitely consider just asking God for exactly what you think you need, as well as what He in his infinite wisdom wants for you.  The  Lord has a plan... and faithfully he will provide.  I'll also pray for your body's endurance to this medical situation until your solution can be found!!

Glad you posted here, I haven't seen you around these parts in a while.  Let us know how you're doing!!!

You should go see a doctor. Is there a clinic in town with a sliding scale that you could go to? You might qualify for Medicaid since you've been unemployed for so long: https://www.cms.gov/home/medicaid.asp

This is why this country needs real health care reform and a single payer system.

no, there's no sliding scale clinic in town - but there's a nurse practiciner (i know i spelled that wrong) who goes to church with me. I asked her about it, and she told me to take ibprofun every 4 hours and alternate heat and ice for a few days. I did that all yesterday afternoon and I felt much better. I actually slept last night, but this morning it hurts a bit again - maybe because I didn't ice/heat it and didn't take medicine while I was sleeping.

I thought it was under 26?  I'll have to look into that - I turn 26 in March!

OP, it is SOOOO important to have health insurance, even if it has a really high deductible.  I have a $5000 deductible, so it only costs about $75 a month.  I know that's a lot if you don't have much, or any money, coming in, but what if you have to go the the ER and are admitted to the hospital for a couple of days?  That right there can easily cost at least $7000.  Believe me, it happened to me last year.

Anyway, I'm glad you're seeing some improvement.  Keep icing it!

It is 26 under the new law.  My parents were told they can carry me until April 30, 2014, so the end of the month that I turn 27.  FI and I do plan on getting our own plan as soon as possible after the wedding, though.  However, if you've rolled off your parents' insurance, you may have to wait a year to get back on. It happened to several of the people in our Young Adult group in church. They graduated in May, rolled off their parents' insurance, still don't have a full-time job, and have to wait until their parents renew insurance for the next year to be covered.  That part of the law did not go into effect until October 2010.
