August 12 Vendor Reviews- Part 2

Photographer- Gabrielle Marks- A+

I am so glad that we hired Gabrielle. She is a sweetheart and hilarious and kept us all so relaxed and calm the day of. Oh, and her pictures are stunning as well. I normally hate having my picture taken, but she made it easy and painless. Twenty days out we already have teasers up on her blog (which everyone should check out because she's awesome) and she made a slideshow of a bunch of pictures set to music. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Florist- Golden Gate Studios- A

I never really gave much thought to flowers, I just knew my general color scheme and a few flowers I liked the look of. Jay made the whole process easy and took my few tiny ideas and turned them into something wonderful. The price really can't be beat either, it's like he read my mind. He will work with you to make what you want possible for the price you can afford.

Makeup- Holly Dalton, Hollywood Makeup Design- A

Holly is an up and coming makeup artist. She works for Bobbi Brown and is a part of the Glam Squad as well I believe. You can find her page on facebook, I believe there is a picture of me on there after I was all made up. She is a great girl and does amazing work, including airbrush, for about half of what other artists charge. I normally never wear makeup but this lasted all day and didn't feel unnatural or cakey. She made me look like myself, only better, which was very important to me.

Limo- Rockstar- A-

Our driver was excellent and very friendly, but I feel like their system of confirmations is way too complicated and I was very confused and stressed about our scheduling and payments. The cars were nice and the complimentary champagne was appreciated. We had two limos and then a town car for the ride home and it required three separate deposits and confirmations, which was kind of a pain.

Alterations- Sewing Creations by Rose- A+

Rose is a wonderful lady and great at what she does. I got my dress from DB (which I'm not going to review... I went in, grabbed the dress, and left) and I didn't trust their alterations department, and the reviews about Rose on here are glowing. She took the zipper out of the back of my dress and replaced it with a corset, hemmed it, sewed in cups, did the bustle, and took it in about two sizes, all for $325. I couldn't believe her prices were so low, DB quoted me much higher. In the end, the dress fit like a glove and looked amazing. If you need alterations, go to Rose!

    Thanks for the reviews.
I am really upset to hear about the towers being SO warm. I have heard mixed things about this and now I am really getting paranoid about it being so hot in there.

What was your wedding date? I was there on 8/20 for a reunion and saw a wedding going on. and all the guests were outside explaining it was so hot it was unbearable.

I am contemplating investing in large fans to put inside the towers- I am paranoid my guests will be uncomfortable.

Also - Do you have the contact info for Holly Dalton?

I contacted her on Facebook, just search for Hollywood Makeup Design. I wouldn't say the Towers were sweltering, but in my dress I wasn't comfortable. I couldn't wait to get out of it, and my dress wasn't super heavy or anything. H was hot as well in his shirt and vest. Our date was the 12th, and the forecast was for 77 degrees with low humidity. Everyone said it was nice on the patio for cocktail hour, there just isn't really anywhere to hide from the sun. Fans would probably be a good idea for inside if you can manage it, the windows don't open very far.

Tahnks. I just contacted teh caterer about bringing an umbrealla to put "over the bar" and bar area so that at least it was shaded when people are getting a drink.

I am hoping that byt he time we get upstairs (not until 7pm and i'm not getting married until august 25th so its a bit later in teh season) will be the point when it starts to get a lot cooler at night.
I was thinking at least of possibly bringing a fan to have on the dance floor in the corner- i just don't want it to get in any pics so I will have to have my photographer avoid it.

Also- was the AC on and blasting downstairs in the bridal suite.
As my last backup t hats my plan to go down there when i get sweltering to touch up and have a few minutes in the cold air.
