Atlantis

Has anyone ever gone to Atlantis? I looked at the website and it looks amazing. I need honesty of how expensive and how was your experience on your trip.

Re: Atlantis

  • I looked into it before, isn't it AI? But I also thought it was a family resort.

  • Been there, stayed in the Cove, incredibly expensive for what isn't any better or worse than any typical strip hotel in Vegas; so basically you're paying an extra $400+/night because it's "Atlantis", oooh boy.  I doubt I'll go back unless it's on the casino's dime. On the plus side, you can get Cuban cigars there lol.

My DH and I are looking at a future Bahamas vacation so we looked into it.  The hotel is divided into several parts.  The Royal Towers is the main resort where mostly families stay.  My boss recommended the Cove for my DH and I--it's like the most secluded, less kids, etc.   But yeah it's $400/night minimum.

For the same price, we can go to Sandals and get a private villa with butler service.  So if we go, we are going this route instead.

  • Yes super expensive a bottle of water was $7.00!!!
  • It is nice, but so so expensive!!! We are going the AI route with Secrets because we get a way better room and it is AI.
  • I've been to the Atlantis before on a family vacation and it is incredibly expensive. It is not AI and the food and drinks are really expensive too. If this is within your budget I would recommend it because it is a great time but if it's not in your budget don't stress there are a million other great places that are AI and a fraction of the cost with as many if not more amenities as far as pools and fun activities. For example I'm a huge fan of the Palace Resorts which are completely AI and they have 13 properties so there is a lot to choose from for every personality. I've included the link. Good luck! :)http://www.palaceresorts.com/
  • An example of how expensive the food is I purchased a chicken finger and french fry meal with a water and it was around $18! But, if you do end up going I suggest going to the comedy club on-site one night it's hysterical!
  • Hey there!  I went last month and it is amazing.  My fiance and I visited it while on a cruise and fell in love with it... I talked to them about the costs of a honeymoon (having a suite room with a casual bev plan) and/or wedding.  Wedding can be very expensive or average.  We could have a wedding there for around 10K, the more guests that book rooms the better price you get though.  For a vacation, you can expect to pay around $450 or more a night, plus I think it was $89 per person per day for a casual meal plan, the nicer meal plan was around $120ish.  Or you can do without and just buy your food as your hungry there.  Plus there are places on the island to go and eat, not many though.  Senor Frogs is by the port and is SO much fun!  Definitely go there if you do go.  Atlantis is amazing, so much to do and just gorgeous.  Unbelievable.  I've been to just about all the island in the caribbean and nassau is by far my favorite!!  Worth every penny!!  Good luck!

  • i've been there. it's over priced and, imo, really over rated. it's TEEMING TEEMING with kids and cruise ship visitors. i foudn it to be one of the most irritating places i've ever stayed.

    go elsewhere.

  • We absolutely love the Atlantis. There's so much to do! There is an AI option with different tiers. It's nice to pay everything up front and not have to worry about too much while there. We didn't find it super expensive, especially compared to other hotels. They always offer free companion air and a night free somewhere. We love it and continue to go back!

  • I've never been, but I've heard that it's expensive and full of kids.

  • We went to Sandals Royal Bahamian which was a 20 min cab ride from Atlantis.  We went there for one day and were completely overwhelmed by it's size and how expensive EVERYTHING was.  Like literally, a pop was $9.  It was very family geared, not romantic at all.

I would never go there and pay to stay/eat there from what I experienced on our day trip.
