Need restaurant advice -- NWR

Hi, Chicago ladies! I need some advice on your fair city. Next weekend the hubs and I (we live in Des Moines) are taking a weekend off and going to Chicago. We found out it's restaurant week! Do you have any recs on where we should eat? We're staying in Bucktown. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

  • I highly encourage you to make reservations ASAP!  I tried makeing reservations three weeks ago and some restaurants were all filled or the times were really early or really late.  Try Blackbird if you can!  We couldn't fit it in this year.  We are going to Sable's kitchen.  One of their chefs is actually on Top Chef right now.

  • Agreed on trying to get reservations now.  What type of food do you like?  Will you have access to public transit or prefer cabs?
  • Ripasso just opened in Bucktown.  Delicious!

  • Thanks, ladies! We'll have a car, and we don't mind riding the el or taking cabs.

  • If you are looking for Italian - highly recommend Bella Notte - it's on Grand Ave, not much else around, but way worth it.
If you don't mind a wait, definitely go eat brunch at Bongo Room in Wicker Park.  DELICIOUS and definitely worth a wait!
Hot Chocolate and Forno are also great places in Wicker Park/Bucktown area.  Yelp has a lot of great and honest reviews too.  Either way, you're in a great neighborhood and really can't go wrong!
