Dj or Band recommendations

Hi - we're getting married in  3 months in NYC, it will be on the smaller size, around 100 people. We're thinking we want a band, but it would have to be a smaller band, 5-6 people. Any recommendations for a great band in the NY area. Or a great DJ? We are open to both ideas.

    Hi!

    I think a DJ has its benefits and Bands give a really strong impact as well! Your budget is really whats going to help you make the choice.  In 2 weeks theres a really great cocktail party for couples planning their wedding, and we're going.  I was told that there are going to be performances by djs and bands from nyc as well as a couture fashion show and cigars for the men! :) my fiance was sold on that lol...you might want to check it out and see if you can still get tickets, i know its on the calendar on the knot events in Manhattan, its called the weddings event on 2/23.  It might help you choose what to go with :)

    If you're open to an excellent DJ, you should look into Turntable Events.  They use old-school vinyl turntables and are a good compromise between a band and a DJ.  I believe their website is www.turntableevents.com

    We hired Soul Revival  ( www.soulrevivalband.com ) to play our wedding and they were absolutely fabulous!  I highly recommend them and I know they are flexible with the size of the band that can play.  I'm pretty sure they are having a showcase soon (thinking this Tuesday) b/c a friend of mine is going.  That's how we saw them first, was at their showcase, and it was great.  Good luck!
