RSVP question

in July 2012 Weddings
We are still waiting on 21 RSVP's and our deadline was June 30th.

I want to track these people down and find out if they are coming! However, my mom does not believe in hunting people down.

What would y'all do in this situation? We are having a buffet so we don't need a super firm head count.

    I say try to contact them.  I'm having a buffet too, but I still wanted a better estimate of how much food we needed, silverware, tables, etc we'd need...as well as how many programs to make. 

    I think if you're nice about it and don't make them feel bad for not returning their RSVP (which, IMO, they SHOULD feel embarassed about), it's no big deal to ask.

    I would still track them down, are you paying per person? If so even if its $20 per person, times 21 unknowns that's $400+ at stake.  I'm tight with my money and I wouldn't want to not bother getting a firm headcount and overspend by that much.  I would ask your mom for their phone numbers and call yourself if she refuses to do so.

    June 30th was a Saturday. People may have sent them in the mail on Saturday or - oops! - missed the mail guy on Saturday and sent it on Monday (yesterday). With the holiday, I'd give them till the end of the week and then start calling.

    It's definitely appropriate to call them, but I am with bridetobe. Our deadline was June 28th. We are waiting until July 5th to go through everything, see who we are still missing, and then making our calls. Lots of people emailed us and said they mailed their RSVPs out yesterday, so we are giving them until after the holiday.

    I still have RSVPs trickling in and our deadline was the 23rd. However, I did start trying to track people down a week after the deadline. I agree though and would give it a few more days. A lot of people think that's when it needs to be in their mailbox!!

    Like everyone else, wait just a few more days, then go ahead and call them. You need to know for things like seating charts too, not just the meal count.
