This is going to be a fun post... Cant wait to see everyone's venue...

I am stuck between 2 venues I am thinking about doing a pros and cons list to figure out which venue is the one....

The first one is the Red House: We are going to have the family style seating instead of round tables...

And the 2nd Venue I keep coming back too is Baber House... I am leaning more towards this venue it has some great spots for photos... But after I make the list I will run it by FI and see what he says...

Ceremony space I love the waterfall...

Reception space debating on tent... We have a indoor option too but I am really hoping mother nature will be nice...

And my most favorite thing about this venue is..... the clock tower...

  • FLGator, I love the Baber House... it's gorgeous. You should totally go with that one. If I were you, I'd snatch it up.

I can't wait to see everyone else's venues.

  • We're getting married at Cruiesport Gloucester.  Here is a picture of the ballroom where the cocktail hour (which will also take place on the heated deck, which over looks the ocean, weather permitting) and reception will take place.

Our ceremony will take place in a separate room, but I don't have a picture of it.

    The outside looks like this:

If you look at it from the back, you can see it is on the harbor:

  • Melb: The outdoor area of the Baber House is gorgeous...But not knowing how mother nature will be a year from now worries me. The indoor space is nice but its small... We are planning on have 70 guest and if all say yes (which not expecting them too) but if they do and things get moved indoors because of rain then some of the guest are will be sitting in different room other than where FI and I are sitting... Below are some of the rooms that are inside of the house...
We could 4 tables that sit about 8 people

These 2 photos make the room and L shapes. We are wanting to family style seating. I was told we could put 6 to 8 long tables vs 6 to 7 round tables comfortably. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the family style seating its this

And there is one more room that is just like the 1st room can fit that same 4 tables comfortably... I just all of the guest in the same room so everyone can feel included... Other than that the venue is perfect...

  • FLGatorGal88 --I love your baber house venue! I would have no worries because of the seating issue, I always wanted a just a meaningful, casual tent reception at home or at my grandparents house or at our family restaurant(it seats 210 people so it's a good size and it would be closed for the day to have my reception there) but my dad made me go out and look at other venues to see what was out there... but all the venues around me are soo typical. and just so "wedding-y" haha but I am not a country club type of girl and to be honest, weddings have never been my thing, I'm just too casual. Anyway, long story short, my guests will technically be in 5 different rooms (its very open) but there will be tables of 10, 8, 6 and 4 all over the place, they will also be able to roam around to the bar, outside deck, ect. and praying the weather holds up we're going to put a tent outside for dancing. Anyway, the point is, it's YOUR day, if YOU like the venue, go for it! The truth is as long as theres good food and drinks, your guests will be happy. Also, you..like I ..will probably be walking around mingling with your guests during dinner (I cant even imagine i'll sit down!) they wont feel left out. plus, when you put things in perspective... the day is about you becoming man and wife. all of the things that seem like a "big deal" now fall by the wayside when you think about it :) good luck!
  • Thanks ladies... I think I have made my decision Baber House it is of course only if FI agrees...

  • Hey ladies! And Congradulations!
I chose Newton White Manor as my reception venue. It's pretty popular among DC/Maryland brides apparently. I wanted a historic feel to go along with our theme and I found it difficult to find a venue that had a single room large enough to seat folks and a dance floor without having to use a tent. Since so many people use this venue I'm challenged with finding elements to make it individual to our wedding.
