Wedding Website?

Hey guys, I'm trying to find a place to create our wedding website, but I would like the capability to purchase a domain name so that the site is strictly www.*****.com. I'm having a tough time.

I know that you can purchase through TK, but I just feel like TK doesn't give a whole lot of design or customization options. I was going to use weddingwire until I realized that they don't offer the domain name service. I also looked at weddingwindow.com, and may end up going with them but A) they have all of these different, mostly expensive, levels of membership and B) their templates are full of couples' pictures which we do not have yet. (I would like to limit the amount of photos we post until we have the professional ones available).

Does anyone know if mywedding.com gives you this capability? Are there any others out there that I'm missing? On another post I saw someone mention that you can purchase a domain name and then have the website forwarded. Sorry for my lack of tech knowledge here, but if anyone has details on how to go about that I would graciously accept those as well!

I used weddingmapper.com for mine. I checked and it's $19.95/year to have your customized URL through them.

I think I tried out just about all these types of websites when creating ours. It was important to me to have it password-protected (my H requested this, for various reasons). Also, we had a ton of OOT guests, so I loved the weddingmapper integrated maps into the site and I was able to point out different locations.
  • I didn't pay for a domain name, but I used mywedding.com after trying out a bunch, and this was the most user-friendly to me.

  • Weebly will let you purchase a domain.  It's pretty user-friendly.

<div>Ditto to both of these, I use Weebly and know pretty much nothing about building websites, and it is great.</div>

  • I used wedding window and purchased my own domain name as well...
  • You could also try various website hosts, like HostRocket.  A lot of them will provide templates for you to use as part of their package, and you can get your own domain.

  • I used wix.com to create mine. You have to upgrade to get your own domain name. I pay $5 a month. It's a flash-based site and allows alot of customization. Check mine out: www.reesepluschris.com

  • I used wedsimple.com, but you might have to pay extra to get the domain name.
