Hi Guys!

When is everyone planning on sending their save the dates? Everthing says 4-6 months...but that's a fairly big window. Figured I'd check with other October 2013 brides

We decided to not do them. I think the timing probably depends on your situation - if a lot of people are coming from long distances you might want to send them out sooner than later.

We already sent out since our wedding is a holiday weekend, Oct. 12, 2013.

We're sending ours in a couple of weeks. I'm ordering them this weekend. My fiance has a few people coming from out of town, but almost everyone on my list is going to have to fly in for the wedding, so we definitely needed to give them advance notice.

I just ordered some samples so we can decide what we want to go with. Then, once we decide and get addresses from our parents, we plan to send them out at the end of March/early April.

Thanks everyone - this is very informative! I only have two people flying...but everyone else if driving either 2 - 4 hours - which is doable in one night - but I'm thinking most people will want to plan to stay over...so I want to give them the heads up to plan for babysitters, hotel, etc.

I actually designed mine and ordered them on Vistaprint - and ended up saving more than $100! I was very excited about that since budget has been a huge concern for my FI and I.

Everything I read says 6-8 months, so we sent them in February.

I sent ours in February as well, but that's because probably half of our guests will need to fly in. Plus... I was excited to get them out, haha.

I sent mine in late Feb. because almost 80% of our guests are out of town and would need to fly! Best of luck!

We are getting our engagement photos done on 3/23, I'll have the edited images the following week and will order our STD's right when I get them! Most of our guests are local, a 45 minute drive away tops, and my mom has certainly been the vocal STD haha.

We haven't set up a time to do our engagement pictures yet because I just booked our photographer the other day so if I decide to do them I probably won't get them out until April. I am still not sure if I want to do save the dates. I might do online save the dates, has anyone tried that?

We sent ours out with our holiday cards - they fit in the same envelope and I figured why do two mailings since they are basically all the same people.

I guess our wedding is technically a holiday weekend (October 12), but very few, if any guests will have to travel and stay overnight in a hotel (Some I know will be staying with other family members in the area - there aren't that many that are far away)

So, we sent ours out with 9 months to go, but it just worked out well for us.

We sent out ours in February since half of our guests will have to travel. I don't really think about Columbus Day as a holiday but since that weekend is our wedding I wanted to make sure there was extra time for my guests.

Columbus Day isn't a holiday for my office, but it is for my sisters, one works at a bank and the other is a teacher. It also tends to be a big travel for a lot of people I know, to relax before the bigger holidays I guess.

Not sure about online STDs, they sound fun, but it never would have worked for us since my parents don't even have internet at home ha ha.

We just got our magnets from Vistaprint yesterday and they are perfect! Our wedding is on Oct. 19th, and I hope to get them all sent out by the first week in April. We have tons of out of town guests. I feel like the sooner the people know the better.

We just ordered our last week and will be sending them out this month....first week of April at the latest. But we have a fair amount of people coming from out of state.
