Sneads Ferry

We are looking into having our reception at Sneads Ferry Community Center.  Has anyone had their reception there or been to a reception there?  How is it?  Any information on it would be great!!!  Thanks in advance!!

I haven't but I would drive to Surf City/Topsail which is just over the bridge and check out their community center. I got married there and it was wonderful and the staff is so easy to work with.

Whatever you do, DO NOT stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Sneads Ferry!!!! We had reserved a room for our wedding night so we could get away from family and when we got there they had given away our room and had no availability even though I booked months in advance!!

Thanks Kaitlyn for the info.  The community center is already full for the weekend that we've picked, so now I'm looking for some other place.  We are expecting about 125+ people, so we're too big to fit in the vistor's center.  Thanks for the heads up on the holiday inn, it was a hotel we were going to tell our guests about.

We visited a place in Sneads Ferry, and we were not all that impressed.  It was a community building, but I can't remember if it was this place or not.  It wasn't close to the beach and the building is in the middle of a not well maintained open lot.  It was a much older building and as soon as we walked in, my husband said it made him feel like the was at a farm event back in his home town in Virginia.

It did have some good features: large, plenty of tables and chairs, nothing around (so no one to bother you). The people who work there we very nice as well.

There is one other place I would recommend trying.  There is another location on Topsail Island (about a 2 minutes drive south of the welcome center).  I believe it is called the Assembly Building.  It has a small military museum attached to it. It is 2 walking blocks from the beach and sits on the Intercoastal waterway. Very pretty at sunset.  It is much larger then the welcome center and has a lot of charm. My husband and I debated for days over which location we want. But we decided that we wanted to be on the beach.  The woman who runs the Assembly buliding is the wife of one of the gentlemen at the welcome center (they are so cute!).  here is one of the links I found for the place: http://www.bluewaternc.com/CrystalCoast/Topsail-Island/MissilesAndMore/

I would call them right away! Good luck!
