Petals in the aisle

I am planning on having lots of real rose petals all along the aisle instead of using an aisle runner. I've never been to a wedding where this was done. If my dress has a train would the petals get caught up under the dress. It's not a huge deal if they do, I was just wondering what this looked like and if anyone even noticed. I'm hoping people won't even notice and it will be a total non-issue.

Re: Petals in the aisle

  • I would imagine a few petals may get caught in the train, but how long and how wide is the train, and how wide would the aisle be? If you had a wider aisle, you probably wouldn't get any petals in your dress.
  • I am planning on petals as well, but I will not have a train, it's a beach wedding.

I'd be concerned based on the type of petals and whether you are preserving your dress, that the petals may "stain" the train of your dress.

I figure that my dress may sweep some of the petals in the aisle away, but that's alright.
  • I had petals on my aisle and I don't know why this would be a concern, really.  I don't think any petals got on or under my train.
  • i wanted to do this with dried leaves for my fall wedding but I'm afaid they will blow away (we are getting married in NY in October next to a Lake) so there is a good chance for a breeze... anyone having any issues with this?
  • Just to let you know- a full on carpet of petals is going to cost you hundreds of dollars.
dont make ur password so easy. gbck2CA2 hahahaha
  • I think you're overthinking this.
Our flower girl is going to have some carnation petals (way cheaper than daisey petals), we're having a beach wedding, and my dress has somewhat of a small train.  I'm in now way concerned that my train may collect petals.  I doubt any guests like grandma will be thinking "oh my, look at her - her train scooped up all the petals as she walked up the aisle, lord have mercy!"
