Printing programs....

I have my programs ready to go, but the only access to a printer that I have is the one at work and I will probably get fired if I try and use it to print 100 of these programs! I went to Staples today to ask about printing there, and they prices out 100 programs at $250ish (holy crap) but if I brought in my own (laserjet printer friendly) paper the cost would be just above $100.

I like option b (obviously) but I don't know how easy or difficult it might be to find this "laserjet printer frendly paper" I want to use a pearlized type of paper since I don't want to do just plain white, or any other color, and I like the sparkley/elegant look of that type of paper.

i've bought cardstock (and even the pearlized paper) before at a craft store, but I don't know if it will say on the packaging whether or not its ok to use on a laserjet printer....

any thoughts? suggestions of where I can find paper?

Re: Printing programs....

  • Maybe it's just me (I'm not really the DIY type), but I would just suck it up and pay the $250. Or maybe try another printing shop in your city - maybe a local one can give you a better price. I just wouldn't trust myself to buy my own printer, get the correct paper and then to attempt to do it myself, it doesn't work, then I'd have to spend the $250 on top to get it done - especially since it's only a week away :)

    GL!

  • Try CopyCop? Or as PP suggested, a smaller family owned type of place? Not sure in Boston you are, so I couldn't suggest. But there must be a small place near you. Oh! Try Kinkos too
  • I used Catprint.com and for 100 color paper front and back I paid 120 that's with "nice" paper

  • I didn't even think of using a local place!!! There's one that we use at work thats right down the street from me. I am going to call or stop by today to get some pricing from them, they have to be at least a little bit less expensive!

  • sometimes post offices will print stuff too....would def have to bring your own paper, but might be cheaper then a boxstore.

  • I used catprint, too.  I think it was around $100-$120 for shimmer paper for 90 of them.  AND they folded all of them for me.

Otherwise, it should say on the package of paper whether it is for inkjet or laser.  And you have to use the special laser the paper, the fuser in those types of printers is really hot and can melt inkjet papers, which ruins it.
