Tacky Tuesday

Hey All,
I thought, since the board seems rather DEAD today, let's play a game!

Tell us, what is the most TACKY?

Could be something someone is doing or told you, could be something included in your wedding (or what they would like to include). Doesn't matter, just talk tacky!

The only thing that really screams "tacky" to me, as far as weddings, is when the bride and groom practically dry hump during their first kiss.  Surprised

Other than that, there are things I'm not a fan of but I wouldn't neccessarily think they are tacky.  Just not my style.

In the non-wedding world.  I think those stickers on cars that say "in memory of XXX who died on XYZ date" are tacky.  I don't see the point.

Tacky to me is the doctor's office.... who I've currently been on hold with for 10 minutes just to schedule an appointment. WTH?  The first time I hung up and called back because I thought we had been disconnected (it's just dead air, no music).  But, nope... still on hold.  And eating my cell phone minutes.

Oh, and wedding related I think the super sexy bride/groom shots are a little tacky.  You know, like the ones where the groom pushes the bride up against the wall and she wraps her leg around him to show off the garter.  Those just don't belong in bridals that go to your whole family IMO.  There's a reason pictage and other sites let you click "private" on some images before you publish your album. =)

    LMAO!!! Totally!!!

Also, I agree about the stickers. I personally am annoyed with the "my kid is a honor student" ones too. Maybe this will change when I have my own kids though and I'll have them all over my own car.

I agree with you too, Teach, about the grossly sexy poses in wedding pics. Save it for your private time people. lol

    You two are too funny!

It drives me up the wall when someone is on their cell phone while standing in line.  I really don't want to hear that your baby's momma's cousin's brother just got locked up for not paying child support.  I also think it's rude to the cashier b/c what if he/she was on their cell phone while they were scanning our items?  Customers would flip a switch....so why do it to them?

When men or women wear clothes that are wayyy beyond too small for them and they ride in places that they should never ever ever belong....lmao!

As far as weddings go... I have a lot of things I think are tacky. ;)

A girl I am an acquaintance  with got married last year. Her sister was throwing her a bachelorette party/bridal shower and sent the invites out via facebook. Then, the bride became an admin of the event and sent invites out to more people who were not invited to the wedding, including myself. I did not go, I did not send a card. Super tacky.

Something else I think is tacky: I just found out that FI's 13 year old brother is dating a girl MY AGE. Gross... and also tacky.

Wedding Tacky: People who are registered to cash or request donations to their honey fund.  Really??   Just don't register anywhere, people will get the hint and send a check.  But to come straight out and say give me money on your invitation?  TAAAACKKKY.  But maybe that's just me?.. :-P

Totally not wedding related...but I find posting your personal business (fights with significant other/family/friends/etc) on Facebook super tacky. Personally, if I'm upset with my FI,  no one typically knows about it but us.

Ahh makes me crazy! Keep it to yourself people!

As far as weddings go, I find it super tacky/disrespectful when bridesmaids refuse to wear dresses they don't like or go buy their own dress on their own time. This has not happened personally at all, but a few posts on other boards have talked about it. Plus, I'm not sure if anyone else has seen the Say Yes To The Dress: Bridesmaids show, but WOW!!! Out of control. Sorry for the ranting haha :)

wow, i ditto all of yours above.

I find "suck for a buck shirts" SO tacky at bachlorette parties.  I think it's tacky and annoying to go to a wedding with a cash bar or a dry wedding.

Oh and don't get me started on FB either- the people who are constantly fishing to seem mysterious by posting " I am so upset" or "bad day" and then refusing to answer when you ask why

Yes, the "My kid's an honor student" are so dumb!  Like, Ummm, yay?  Does that mean I should let you cut in front of me in traffic?

And yes to wearing clothes that are too small!

Also tacky - I am not a fan of airbrushed designs on fingernails if you are over the age of 20.

OBX related - Speedos on men!  AND putting your cigarettes out in the sand.  DRIVES ME NUTS.  Also, people who leave their canopy skeletons up over night.  It's dangerous, ugly, and you don't own the beach.  Innocent

Wedding wise - my FI seriously wanted pastel blue and white striped seersucker pants.  He also wanted these pink bow ties with pastel blue fish print.  Really baby?  Just because its made by Ralph Lauren, does NOT mean its stylish.  I love him, but the fashion sense, man sometimes I don't know!  LOL.

Non wedding - wearing pants that are too small or too low waisted for your body.  Girls, noone really knows what size you are actually wearing and you will look best in something that fits!  No matter what size you put on, you are going to look fat if you have an inner tube around your waist.  Just sayin'...

Ooooo.. I hate people blabbing on their phones while they're in line!

    Hmm..

WEDDING TACKY: The combo platter of fake baking and sunless tanner - when you look like a cheeto..... or stepped right off the the Jersey Shore. I hate when brides are orange

EVERYDAY TACKY: more cell phones... I just saw a group of girls at a restaurant and, I kid you not, EVERY.SINGLE.ONE was on a cell phone. And, no one was talking. It looked so stupid. You're out with each other for a reason. Get off your phone and have a normal conversation.

Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now. haha

Narwhal - here is my take on seersucker.  I like seersucker too, preferably in the form of shorts and paired with a preppy polo shirt.  But definitely not in pants, on the beach, with a pastel pink bow tie.  What are we, a barbershop quartet?  :oP

FI is from Alabama, loves college football, is active duty army, and loves to dress super preppy. What a combination huh?  I kid with him, but he is the most amazing person ever ;)  Even though he knocked me up and fled the country this past year.  LOL (really he didn't have a choice). But I've received flowers at least once a month since he left.  He'll be home in 2 days everyone!!!

I have to agree with everyone up here on their posts.

Wedding Tacky - Brides and Grooms and even guests getting super drunk at weddings.  Yes, there may be a cash bar but that doesn't mean you have to drink it dry.

Everyday Tacky - Infidelity.  Seriously, I just found out that my best friend is cheating on her husband.  They've only been married a year.  So now I feel that I'm in the middle of their marriage.  FI says that he would tell the husband but it isn't my place to medal.

My brother served in Iraq and everyday he was over there was terrible for our family- the worrying and wondering. I'm so happy for you, Keb. Keep us posted on baby too :)

Listen, just because I wear my Speedos out in public doesn't mean they are "tacky" dammit!  Geesh ladies.....

Ok, tacky to me?  Women who wear shoes that are too tight so that the pump fat comes out of the top.  Women who INSIST on wearing jeans that look like they had to lay on a bed and use pliers to zip them up and accentuate the curves that NOBODY wants to see.

Tacky for weddings can be so broad, but I really have nuttin right now.  To each his/her own when it comes to everything.  I would HATE for someone to critique me on whether or not I had good food, open bar vs. cash bar(gotta have booze though), got a little "tipsy", what my colors were, etc.  It's OUR day and it shouldn't matter to anyone but us, and we invited YOU because we wanted you to share in our day, not to walk away with an opinionated story of banter and misconceived stories.  Ok, i'm off of my soapbox now ladies. Thank you so much to everyone for the good wishes for us!  The Army is a tough life, but also a good one I'm finding out.  There are a lot of benefits in addition to all the drawbacks.  There are also a lot of changes and scares.  For example, we are supposed to be stationed at Fort Meade, MD when FI returns (for good) in November.  He randomly got an email stating that our next post would be Ft.  Gordon, GA.  WTF????!!!  Not that I have anything against GA, but we have other challenges to face like the custody of my son (I have full, father has visitation).  Now that I've shared my whole life...haha :oP
