October 2012 Weddings

Smooth Sailing...Until Now

Wedding planning has virtually been a breeze for the past year and a half.  I had so much time that I never freaked out and I booked things at a leisurly pace, etc.  The last thing I wanted was to resent the wedding or get super stressed - I really just wanted it to be carefree and it has been --- up until the last two weeks.

First, NWR FI and I are trying to sell our house that we bought a few years ago and it is the thorn in my side that will not go away.  The house is in Springfield and we are currently living with our respective parents in St. Louis (about 3 hours apart). Like most normal you people we cannot afford a mortgage and rent/another mortgage.  The only time we ever hear from our relator is when she is calling to say something is wrong i.e the air conditioner stoped working or a GIANT TREE fell in the back yard. UGH. I have kind of just been ignoring the situation with intentions of coming back to that after the wedding. So that is problem number one....

The second (WR) issue is that I still don't have hair and makeup figured out. As you may or may not remember the girls I had a hair and makeup trial scheduled with blew me off and after repeated times trying to get a hold of them I just said f*** it and now I am back to square one on that front.  It is just so hard to try and find a reasonably priced person for the bridesmaids that have said they would like hair and makeup done (not required, all but one would like it done). I originally told them the price the girls who were SUPPOSED to be doing it said, but obviously they're out. So that is on the agenda for this week.

More WR problems - we got an email from our pastor saying he has an emergency obligation that is impossible to get out of. I understand that things come up and I am not really mad at him about thi, but I am really disappointed. We are not members of this church (family member is though) and we chose this church specifically because we felt really comfortable with him doing the ceremony. So now I have to set up ANOTHER meeting that I really don't have time for considering the rest of wedding planning, crazy-ness at work, trying to work out every day, etc etc.

And finally, my bridesmaids aren't really getting along.  One of the is being perceptively bitchy (I am used to it, she is soon to be family and just has an abrasive personality).  I don't really know what to say to anybody about it, I just kind of shake my head and try to change the subject.

Sorry, I know everyone has crap going on but I just helps to vent I guess!! Happy Monday!!

It's on the SW side of town.  Our relator is Murney and as soon as our contract is up with her (soon) I do not see us renewing it.  I am pretty sure she is only showing the house to her own clients to get double commission. No, we are both from St. Louis.  We went to Missouri State and bought the house with the intention of staying there are few years after college but things changed and I got a great job opportunity here in STL.  I kind of miss "small" town life though and my old 5 minute commute versus my current 30 minute commute

  • Ill bet the commute is hard to get used to...FI and I both grew up in Springfield and really love the area and the schools....we both have children...I'm sorry your having such a crappy time with the realtor.  We had my dads house on the market for 4 days and had three offers and we were very happy with our relator...she wasn't my first choice, but she seems to be good at what she does.....if you want any other info or info on anything in this area....its my stopping grounds...lol....pm me....

  • I'm in St. Louis (South County).  As far as hair and make up go, a friend of mine is at school at National Academy Beauty Arts and she's the one doing my hair/make up.  They've got reasonable prices (like a fraction of normal salons) BUT the downside is that everyone is a student and still learning.  It's an option, anyway...

Good luck!!!  It'll all be over soon!

  • I'm so sorry about everything happening at once!   I put a craigslist ad up to try and find a stylist for mine/my bms hair and I think I'm getting a decent deal!  I found some one willing to work with in my budget and her website is legit with beautiful pictures!! I have my hair trial set for next Friday.

Also, I can sympathize with bms not getting along.  I have a college friend and a hometown friend with both super type A personalities!  They bicker constantly and had to do some damage control after my bachelorette party.  Soooo glad I'm not doing a head table and I can seat these people separately!
