Honestly, I think it's way too early. Styles will change a lot in the next 2+ years, and so may your tastes. It is fine to look at dresses online at this point, but I would absolutely not begin trying on dresses until 1.5 years before your wedding at the earliest. I get the being excited thing, but seriously: wait!

Yes, you have over two years until your wedding.  You should look no sooner than a year....and by that i mean, I would look for ideas a little before the year but not actually physically go try them on until that point.  Your tastes could easily change, the styles will change, etc.

I too get you are excited but I think you seriously need to wait on the dress.

I disagree with the other girls.  I think it's fine to look at dresses whenever you want!  I bought my dress 1 year 8 months before our wedding day and thankfully I did because I absolutely fell in love with it (it was like dress #25 though) and they discontinued it 3 months later.  I couldn't picture myself in anything else.
I say go ahead and look online and in store if you want but don't buy unless you are 100% positive it's THE ONE!

i waited too long, ended up getting a dress just because I was so fed up with trying on dresses, and bridal salon ladies telling me i have to have to buy,  and was worried I wouldn't have time to order anything else. I think my dress is a fine dress, but when it arrived I was a bit disappointed and wish I had time to change it or get a new one. So I would say go look, don't buy the first or second time you look (perhaps leave your wallet at home :) But go look at different shops and styles and try and decide what materials and styles you like.
Perhaps it's a bit too early to buy, but it's not too early to go try on dresses.

I say start now and take your time picking your dress, many women wait a few months before their wedding and theyre already overwhelmed with other wedding issues, start searching for styles and details that will be perfect for you! And even if you changed your mind you will have plenty of time to pick a different dress, the worse thing is to wear a dress u dont feel confident and beautiful in. Smile

Dress shoppng is exciting! You should have fun with it! I don't want to repeat what everyone else has said - but it's a little early for you to buy.

However, I think that there can be three phases of dress looking -
    1. fun to look/ to see different styles
    2. serious to look / to see what's out there
    3. seriously looking to buy.

Right now, have fun looking to see different styles. You have more than two years until your wedding, so the styles might change, but so might your tastes. Not to mention your "wedding's style" and possibly your shape!

So if you want to "look around" now, don't commit to one dress, or even type of dress just yet. Look at everything - the dresses look different on models in catalogs than they do on real people. You have time, enjoy it. But, as a courtesy, make sure to let the consultant know that you are just looking. Like pp said, maybe leave your wallet at home.
