where did you get candles?

I've looked at several different sites..just wondering where you purchased your candles if you're using them in your centerpieces..

I think I need about 100. I would prefer votives to tealights...I think I'm just going to go with white/unscented. I'd like to spend as little as possible since I spent the money I was going to use for centerpieces yesterday on new brakes. Any suggestions would be awesome! I'm going to get the rest of my stuff off ebay because I found what I was looking for this whole time at a pretty great price. So I'm going to stuff my vases with disco ball ornaments and pine cones...I found some cute little pine cone roses I'm going to sprinkle down the tables and put the votives in between. If there's enough money for some royal blue satin fabric I'll also try to drape some of that in each vase before I stuff them for a pop of blue against the silver.

  • Don't know if you have a Hobby Lobby near you or not. But they will have sales on candles for 50% off. I bought mine a couple weeks ago. You can view their ads online.

  • We got ours from barnloftcandles.com.  Their pillar price was good, I didn't compare votive or tealights though.
  • I bought used candles from a local bride. I got 88 large tealight style candles that are all in glass votives for $5. They were only used for a few hours at her reception and they look like they will last a long time still. Check out craigslist maybe? I do that everyday for my area and search wedding, or decorations, etc.

  • I did not want to pay shipping (I'm cheap.  lol) so I got everything from Michael's, AC Moore and Hobby Lobby.  I know you have Michael's and HobbyLobby down your way...my daughter goes to school in Atlanta.  Anyway, Michaels's has a box of votives in the glass holder for like 8.99 (box of 12).  Use a 50% coupon (they take competitor coupons also).  I got my pillar candles cheaper at Walmart and the 3" floater candles were from Bed Bath & Beyond.  I found them by accident...box of 4 for 4.99 and I used a coupon.

My whole rambling point is, you can find things online but sometimes the shipping can be high, esp. if you're on a tight budget like me, or keep you eyes open for the sales and coupons at your local craft stores.  HTH!!

Show us pics when you're done!  It sounds very pretty!!

  • I also got mine at candles4less.com.  I did quite a bit of shopping around, and even with paying for shipping, they really had the best deal for what I needed.  I ordered all of my glassware, votives, and votive holders from them.

  • We got some from QuickCandles and my mom got a bunch for a diff event from Candles4Less. Recommend both!
  • I got a 36-pack of red unscented votives from Wal Mart for $4.97.  Also got glass votive holders there for 60 cents each, but Hobby Lobby runs some great specials all the time with 50 percent off.
