hunger games !?

Has anyone seen it already, or has plans to go see it this weekend? A big group of my friends and I are going tonight. Dan is in Alabama today but he flies back tonight and is having the cab take him straight to the movie theater (lol). I'm so excited, but I'm sad I didn't get to see it at midnight. I can't wait til tonight!

Anyone else seeing it? Have you read the books? I read them last summer and really enjoyed them, except for the ending of the series (not really crazy about how things turned out).

What is it even about? I keep hearing about it and the sheer fact that Taylor Swift has written songs for it makes me assume its in the same catergory as Twilight... the stuff that teens and a number of adults scream over. I don't read books or watch movies so I am 100% out of the loop on all of these. I have never seen/read any Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Twilight, Marley and Me or anything like that.

I haven't read it but I just downloaded it to my Kindle. I'm skeptical since I generally don't like YA lit (HP was an exception) but it was cheap so I figured I would give it a shot.

If I do decide to see the movie it won't be for a long time. I can't stand when people talk during movies so we generally don't go to just released, popular movies.

I'm going tomorrow morning! I'm so excited. Definitely not like Twilight, more like HP tone. If it was Twilight esque I certainly wouldn't be there lol. It's about a tournament that is made after the U.S. falls and gets rebuilt where 2 children from each district (12 districts) are picked to be in a competition where they have to kill each other until there is only 1 left. It's intense and a love story and action all at once. Plus the fact that it's one of the first books with a main female character that has been so popular which is cool. It's, personally, a great story.

PS: Celtic, when I finished the series I told my FI, this book was written for the HP generation, not Twilight kiddos.

I figured the same that it's more like HP. I wish I could read the books. I am super excited for the movie even though I haven't touched the books! I think it looks totally up my alley, being a HP geek and all.

FI and I were going to go at Midnight but realized I had to be at work at 7 am this morning and fully functioning since we have VP's at the resort right now and I have meetings through out the day and he had to be at work at 8am-so we are going this evening we already got tickets-I am super excited b/c we both have read the books

I'm going tomorrow night. I hadn't read the book, but a group of my friends convinced me to go and I can't go see something like that unless I've read the book, so I was up until almost 1 a.m. last night reading. I never read any of the HP books, but I did read Twilight (couldn't get into the rest of the series) and HG is MUCH better and a lot more complex when it comes to themes and stuff (I'm such a dork).

I've read the first book and loved it. I'm on the waiting list for the other books from the library but I figure there's no rush since they haven't made the other movies yet. =P Even FI read it and thought it was pretty good. I LOVE going to midnight showings, but that wasn't possible this time. So FI's taking me out on a date (it's been so long!!!) in two weeks to go eat dinner, see HG, maybe get some gelato...

I read all three books in less than a week and I am stoked to see the movie! I think we are going Sunday morning because 1. It's cheaper and 2. hopefully to avoid a crazy crowd.

I am a big fan of the movie "Battle Royale". When I purchased the book originally I thought the story line might be more like that movie, but it was not. Nonetheless the book was fun, but it was definitely "fluff".

FI and I have both read the books and really liked them. I am hoping we can go see the movie on Sunday. I can't wait!

FI and I both read the books and they were quite addicting. We went and saw the movie tonight!!!!!! It was very good. Lots of stuff from the book were left out but that's usually case since they can't fit it all in I guess. Definately looking forward to the next movies

FI and I went to the midnight show, which I'm somewhat regretting now since I have yet to catch up on sleep!! I think they did a good job. Obviously id say the books were 8 million times better, but that goes for almost any film adaptation. I really thought they did a great job with casting. I'm not sure how it would be for someone who hadn't read the books because FI and I have both read them.
