Serving help

I'm trying to decide how much cake to order, but am not sure about the number of slices.  We will have approximately 400 guests and will have both a bride and groom's cake.

Does each cake need to have 400 slices independently, or does the sum of the slices from BOTH cakes need to total somewhere around 500?

Thoughts? I don't want to run out of cake!

Typically, the groom's cake is smaller than the bridal cake. I'd probably have the groom's cake serve about 100-200, and the bridal cake serve about 350. Some people will eat both, but definitely not everyone.

don't order more than 400 servings combined.  Some people don't eat cake (personally - it's my fave food group) and quite honestly, it is your responsibility to provide 1 serving of dessert to each of your guests.  You could probably get away with a bit less, but you certainly don't need to order more than that.

I would have the bride's serve at least 300, and the Grooms serve 100-200.

I would eat both and so would my husband.  Some people won't have any.  It is better to have too much than to run out.

</div><div>Know your guests -- if you know a couple people aren't big fans of cake but a few friends would gladly have seconds then get 400+ servings. We're having 160-175 guests and have enough cake to serve 200 (I will eat probably 2 pieces... and another when we go to the hotel room... don't judge me)</div>

I consider it rude for guests to have a piece of each.  If I wanted both I would take a slice of the bride's cake and have my husband get a slice of the groom's cake and we could share.  It is the bride's responsibility to offer me 1 dessert, and that one is 1 piece of cake (or cupcake, pie, whatever...)

So, I would say that combined the cake serving total should be the same as your guest count.
