Keg and Wine Confusion

Hi guys - I'm wondering if you can help me. Everywhere I search for calculations on estimates on how much beer and wine to buy, I get "how many people are attending your wedding?" To me, that feels like a very skewed question. We all know that most weddings include non-drinkers and some weddings include children, like mine.
So, I'm wondering if you all might be able to help more.

I have a 105 person wedding. About 80-90 of them will probably show.

I did some rough estimates based on what I know about my guests. Of 105 people, about 60 of them will be inclined to drink. Based on observation, about 20 of them are wine drinkers, which leaves 40 of them as beer drinkers.

Based on those numbers, I'm not sure how many kegs (what size) and how many bottles of wine to buy.

Thoughts?

Re: Keg and Wine Confusion

  • Not sure if this helps but we are having 80 guests and got 4 kegs, 4 cases of wine, 1 case of champagne, and a signature drink.

You could probably get away with having 2 kegs. We got extra because our crowd drinks a lot of beer and our reception doesn't end until 2 a.m.

  • You can always underestimate on the keg and have a few cases of beer on hand for backup. That's what we're doing. And we are overestimating on the wine.
My parents, FI, and I are only going to buy what we ourselves would drink so that if there's leftovers, we will still come out ahead. :)
  • The way the calculators work is by using an estimate based on every single guest - and knowing that not all of them will drink, some will drink heavily, etc.
