welcome basket help!

Hey guys. My fiancee and I are getting married this September in cape cod, Massachusetts. I am originally from Massachusetts and he is from new York. We both now are living in New York. My question is we are planning on doing several welcome baskets for out of town guests and want to include snack foods from both Massachusetts to represent me and New York for him. So far on our list is: cape cod chips, salt water taffy and new York style bagel chips. This won't be refrigerated and will be sitting out in a hotel room so nothing can be perishable. Oh and we've got the water bottles with our names and date on them and stuff like that, just looking to get some clever snack ideas that are New York and Massachusetts related. Thanks for your help!!

    I think welcome baskets are a very nice (although unnecessary) touch.  I would ask this on the Massachusetts and New York local boards.  They may have more suggestioins.  An apple for the "big apple" could be cute!

    Also, come join us on the September 2012 board!  We're a really great group of women :)

    I like the apple idea, very cute! You can also include things that aren't food, here are a few things I'm considering
    -Welcome letter
    -Map of area
    -Our favorite Restaurants / things to do
    -Taxi #s
    -Schedule (also have a brunch the next day so this is the easily way to tell everyone)
    -Deck of cards
    -shout wipes
    -hand sanitizer
    -Tylenol
    -pepto
    -2 tea bags
    - Peanut butter crackers (wanted to do a protein for the ppl that had been on the road for a while)
    -water

    Some of these may not make sense for you.  My wedding is in a resort area not to far from where I live.  A lot of my family says they're making a long weekend out of it so it made sense to add a few more things to do in the area.

    That def is a good list, and were most certainly doing a bunch of them! We ordered water bottles with our names and date on them and plan on a welcome letter with important phone numbers and an itinerary of the weekend events. I like the idea of aspirin and shout wipes and stuff too : I was looking for more help with food and snack stuff :

    Is pickles a weird suggestion, for some reason I think of pickles and New York. 
    Boston cream donuts!
    Cranberry juice (and maybe mini vodka bottles for those that might appreciate that Wink)

    We are doing gift bags with all of our favorite things.
    Such as, water, gatorade, granola bars, Cliff bars, peanuts, etc...
