Flowers...Yes or No?

I am having a really hard time swallowing the cost of real flowers for my wedding. We have a huge bridal party so for all the bouquets, boutineers, family flowers, ect... we are looking close to $1,000. I wanted advice on if silk flowers really do look good or if there was something different I could do besides flowers in general. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated. :)

    Good silk flowers can cost the same or more then real flowers. Are you good at DIY? I'm thinking of having my BM carry 3roses tied with ribbon. Try global rose.com or bloomsbythbox.com. The blooms website has videos on how to DIY.

    Buying individual silk flowers at retail price can be costly.  Silk flowers nowadays are really beautiful though.  Perhaps you should look at having your flowers put together by someone that knows how and I think you'll save some money in the long run.  Check out sites like Etsy.com, these folks are really talented.

    Costco and Sam's Club have very reasonable wedding packages that would not cost $1000. If you have a membership go in and check out their kiosks, and check them out online. Nearly every review I've seen is positive, and I got bulk flowers for 10 centerpieces, and a wedding package from Costco for less than $600 combined.

    There are other online floral outlets as well. You can go small with one, or a few calla lillies for the bridesmaids, a bouquet for you, and small centerpieces.

    It is true: good looking silk flowers often cost as much, or more, than real flowers. But with real flowers you can "go small" with a small vase, a few flowers, and fill in with candles and it will look elegant.

    shop around for a florist...if all you want are bouquets like costco/sam's club make , they can do them sometimes cheaper nd looking much nicer and with out the stress of worrying what they will be like.

    Thanks everyone!! My future sister-in-law found paper flower bouquets and some of them are really really beautiful. I am shopping around to see the deals I can get on those. I like the originality of this idea. Thanks for all the advice tho, I may look into Costco or Sams also. :)

    I think it depends what time of year your wedding is. For my spring wedding we used mossy wreaths with birdhouse lanterns instead of flowers. We only used flowers for the bouquets. It turned out beautifully. I loved making them so much I decided to start an etsy store to sell things like that. There are lots of ways to use no or very few flowers for a spring, fall or winter wedding. My nephew is getting married this fall and they are not using flowers for their centerpieces either.

    Hobby Lobby 50% off floral or floral stems or off wedding would be your best route.  They even have sales for 50% off ribbon in the wedding section and some premade stuff too.  They have a nice line of flowers single stem that look and feel real.   worth checking into.

    I used dried flowers. Got one bridal bouquet, five bridesmaid bouquets, two jr bridesmaid bouquets, one ring bearer pillow, two corsages, and two dried statice wreaths for about $450.
