Louisiana-New Orleans

Timeline?

Does anyone have a day-of timeline they would be willing to share? I'm not using a planner so I'm trying to give myself plenty of time to figure out the flow of the day.

Our ceremony and reception are both at the St Louis Hotel.

Here's what I'm thinking:
12pm hair and make up begins (there are 5 girls in my bridal party - is this enough time?)
3-5pm first look, wedding party, and family formals
6pm quick civil ceremony
-second line-
7-10pm reception

Do you think 2 hours is a good amount of time for the pics? We're not having a cocktail hour, so I really want to get all the formals out of the way beforehand so the FI and I can just go enjoy the reception.

How long should we leave for the second line? We are planning to 2d line down the aisle right out to the street, and do a loop in the FQ while they flip over the ceremony/reception space. The one catch to this is that I know before we actually head outside I am going to have to bustle my dress. It's a relatively simple silk chiffon gown -- any idea how long that will take?

Thanks everyone!

We have about the same timeline for a wedding at 7pm, second line 30 minutes, ceremony 30 minutes, reception starting at 8pm (no cocktail).

My only suggestion would be maybe a little more time for hair and makeup. you never know what could happen during this time! ha!!

I would allocate a lot more time for hair and makeup. We started at 9:00 am for five girls. We had one person dedicated to hair and one dedicated to makeup. It took about 6.5 hours to get us all taken care of.

I agree with PP, I would start hair/makeup earlier. Everything else sounds good though!

Thanks a lot everyone. That's really helpful to have estimates for how long the hair and make-up takes. Maybe if we can swing an extra stylist that will cut down on the time a bit.

Who is doing your hair and makeup?  I havne't done my reviews yet, but I got married on October 22.  We used Heather.  Me, my mom and my 4 bridesmaids had hair and makeup done.  We started at 12 and we were done by 3:15.  We had 2 assistants do makeup for 2 girls, but that was it.  Heather did the rest.  She is AMAZING.  she was so quick and we looked great.  Not bad hair/tacky makeup.  Everyone was really happy.

Our wedding was at the Omni, so we had breakfast at 10, hair/makeup at 12.  I put my dress on around 3:50 and we did the first look at the Omni at 4:15.  We took pictures on the roof and around the Omni with family until about 4:50.  Then the bridal party went into the French Quarter until 5:30.  Ceremony at 6 and then the reception was right after.  We had our second line after the reception at 10:00.  It depends on who is doing your hair, I think.  Like I said - Heather was AMAZING but also really quick, so we had plenty of time.

    Wow that's super fast!

I'm really glad Heather worked out for you. It sounds like she does good work, but having ready that she can be late makes me so nervous. I just don't think I would want to chance it.

I've put in inquiries w/ Just Face It and SWAK, so we'll see how that goes.
